Customer Review: Everything Is Great Except The Bowl

I purchased this shaving set without any prior experience of wet shaving or shaving with a double edge safety razor and its been a fantastic experience so far.
I used to shave with a Schick Quattro because for whatever reason, that was the only cartridge razor on the market that didn't give me bad razor burn on my neck. I would still get razor burn, but nowhere near the extent of other cartridge razors.
I read about using double edge safety razors as an alternative and how they're supposed to give better, closer shaves using cheap blades with the only caveat being that it takes some practice before you can get a good shave without cutting up your face.
The Merkur Futur has a much larger head that I'm used to shaving with but I adapted to it quickly. It's also pretty heavy, which is good for me because you're supposed to let the weight of the razor do most of the work and I'm used to pushing the razor into my skin a bit. It is adjustable but I haven't fooled around with the adjustments too much. I started at 1 for a few days and then worked myself up to 4 of its 5 settings and began cutting myself too much. I scaled back to 3 and get a fantastic shave every time as long as I'm extra careful. I've seen some reviews complaining that there isn't a grip or indentations for you fingers on the handle of the razor but I haven't had a problem holding onto it even when its wet and soapy.
The brush is nice and is the perfect size for my face. The bristles are very soft and I actually enjoy waking up to shave now. I can usually work up a good lather in about a minute using the brush.
There really isn't much to say about the stand; it's a basic metal stand that matches the razor and the brush. I guess it makes the set look pretty cool.
The one thing I DON'T like about the set is the bowl and it's the only reason why the product doesn't get a 5 star rating from me. From the picture it looks like the bowl is made out of metal, but mine is made out of frosted glass. It still matches the set and looks nice however there are these plastic nubs on the bottom of the bowl to keep it from slipping around and two of the four have already fallen off.
The bowl is also seems kind of small. When I bought the set I got a free shaving soap that fits perfectly into the bowl but I find that the bowl is too shallow to hold both the soap and the lather without the lather foaming up around the sides and then out of the bowl. I have used the bowl with Proraso shaving cream and it works much better than the soap.
All in all a great set, even with the bowl being sub-standard.
