This is my first Peak Flow Meter. I liked the design and features amazon listed and thought I would try it out. Everything about it holds true, its small enough to toss in a purse or bag, and easy enough to take out and use at any time. It stores your readings which is quite handy. Great device for anyone who wishes to monitor there peak flow rate.
On a seperate note for allergies and peak flows:
For anyone with allergies, this is a nice product as well. I have a latex allegy and a peak flow reader was recommened to me by my allergist. When using it after say, going into a store, I can tell if there were any hidden latex allergins that were not visable. Balloons and such are visable, however perhaps a bunch of ballons were there a few minutes before I set foot in the store. I would not know, but my asthma would kick in. Sometimes its delayed But the peak flow meter would give me a lower reading byt about 15%. So I would know in advance and be able to prepare for a possible reaction, etc. Just an example for anyone out there with similar allergies. Its a great way to check for possible attacks and being small and light, this peak flow is recommended!

1. Somehow 7 out of 10 times this device can't record properly. For example, after my son blows in it, it shows 200 and the FEV but then when it's ready for the next blow, instead of zero, it shows Hi. From there, my son's previous reading and all the following attempts will be recorded as Hi instead of any numbers. When it shows Hi, I have to turn it off, and then turn it on again until it shows zero. 2. I didn't purchase the program to analyze the readings but didn't realize without the software I can't transfer the data to my computer either. For the price of this device, I think Microlife should allow users to download data to the computer. 3. the interval between different readings is too short. It makes reading previous records difficult and manually recording previous readings impossible.Customer Review: had one small problem but fabulous customer service

I am a physician, well versed with asthma and peak flow meters and I bought the PF100 for my son in an effort to monitor his asthma.
My son used the device a few times after we purchased it and I compared the readings with the manual units with favorable results. At 9 yrs. old, he found the PF100 easier to use and interpret than manual units. My son improved so much that we stopped using the device for many months.
He had a recurrence of symptoms and when we again tried the PF 100m we had a few issues.
I sent an email to Microlife customer service and the staff was FANTASTIC, originally trying to walk me through attempts to fix the unit, but then sending me a replacement, which again works great.
I highly recommend this unit.

I got this for my husband who was recently diagnosed with COPD. The instruction manual didn't really give a clear guideline as to what his target number, especially for the FEV1, should be. I think it's because we are both new to this that I am not sure what he is aiming for. I also didn't understand how it could give him a "green" when it doesn't know if you are a male/female, age, etc. I also thought the mouthpiece came off much too easily. All that being said, I think it is going to be quite useful once my husband and I meet with the doctor again and get some guidelines from him on this device. I love that it stores 240 readings. I would recommend this device to someone else, as long as they were going to use it in conjuction with a trained person's direction.Customer Review: Best Peak Flow Meter I have tried

This meter is accurate in comparison to others I have tried and to "disposable" ones.
I love it's ability to track previous readings as well as it calculating what percentage you are from your best peak flow. You can only compare your numbers to yourself so a peak flow of 380 could be good or bad, depending on what YOUR best peak flow is. This is really important and why I am glad it does its calculations automatically and easily displays for me whether I am in a danger zone for myself.
This also has the ability to keep track of peak flows from different people but I am the only one in my house that uses it so I haven't tried that feature. There are different color mouthpieces for different people.
