Customer Reviews of Minoxidil-5% Extra Strength Hair Regrowth for Men, 6 Month SupplyCustomer Review: Works...with costs. Summary: 4 Stars
Kirkland Minoxidil, so far, has been working for me. I am 28 years old, and before using this product had a large bald spot on the top of my head, and a lot of thinning in the front. I am almost at the two month mark, and have had a decent amount of hair regrowth. Both on the crown of my head (bald spot), and the front area. The product suggests that you should not use it in the front, but let's face it, that's what more people will be looking at when they are looking at your face. Anyway, the hair isn't as long and thick as the rest of my hair, but it has begun filling in those balding areas despite. They say it takes a good solid couple months to see the full effect, and I had to stop using it for almost a week when I forgot to pack it on a vacation. I imagine if I had, the hair would be thicker, and my bald areas would be even more filled in. This progress comes at a cost though. The product is a great value compared to Rogaine, especially when they basically are the same things and offer the same type of potential for hair regrowth. But still, plan on buying it continually, because if you stop applying it the reqgrown hair will fall out after a few weeks. Another cost is the commitment to daily routine. It has to be applied in the morning and before bed. By the way, the product is a clear liquid that you basically drip onto your bald area and massage it into the scalp. Sometimes it makes your head itchy. But a third kind of negative point...you need to give it a good hour to dry. In the first hour or so after you apply it, your head will be kinda nappy...by that I mean sort of stiff and sticky. That has been my experience so far...hope it helps.
Customer Review: Nice one Summary: 5 Stars
I'm 23 and I started to notice that my hair was thinning 3 years ago. I have always had a shaved head since I was a kid, so at first it didn't really notice. I was starting to get to the stage however that I was becoming very conscious of my hair and under strong lights, the hair loss was very noticeable. for the last year or so every time I would look in the mirror, my hair loss would be getting worse and worse. although I had not attained any complete bold spots, they were not too far off forming.
I hence got to the point where I thought that it is time to try and fight back. I have a degree in molecular medicine so I thoroughly researched all available options and Minoxidil is medically accepted to have some hair regrowth/ maintenance effects, so I brought a 3 months supply of the Kirklands product and gave it a go.
I have been using the product twice a day all over my head, including the front hairline. Just under two months in and my hair is getting thicker all over. I cant explain what a great feeling it is to look in the mirror and see that my hair is getting thicker, instead of thinner!
However I do predict that the regrowth will reach a cut off point and then gradually begin to recede again, but at a much slower rate, however at this stage it is still getting thicker. Hence there is no doubt for me that Its a worth while treatment, which DOES help. And forget the adverse effects, people will always find something to moan about..they are MINOR
Customer Review: So far, so good - but gave up after 14 months of minimal results Summary: 5 Stars
I started using this product about two months ago and noticed some hair re-growth after about a month. Though it says that this is for application on the top (vertex) of the head and not for the front hairline, I am using it along my hairline as it started receding last year faster than I was comfortable with (I'm in my mid-30s). My intent was to, at least, stop the receding but I was pleasantly surprised after a few short weeks when I looked closely and saw some of the lost hair was growing back. I apply it with a child's craft paintbrush rather than drip it on the scalp. This helps to control where the liquid is applied rather than running everywhere I don't want it. Applying twice a day is a bit of a pain but small price to pay to keep my hair where I want it. I hope that my cul-de-sacs will continue to fill in and I can get my hairline closer to where it was 5-10 years ago.
Update:
I used this product for about 14 months and there was a little hair regrowth along my hairline but I don't think it was worth the time and $ for the results. I wasn't using it in the area that it's to be used so maybe I'll try again if I start losing hair on the top of my head. In the meantime, I started using NuHair's system of supplements and topical serum. After only a month I've had hair starting to regrow along my hairline where it's not grown for years. I hope that this continues to improve with taking the product.
Customer Review: Glad I Tried It... Summary: 5 Stars
So I'm in my mid-20s, and the hair on the front half of my scalp has been slowly thinning for a couple years now. It was getting to the point where I was starting to be self-conscious about it, so I figured I would go ahead and give this stuff a shot.
I'm glad I did. Over the past 5 months, my hair really has noticeably thickened. I even have had people telling me they though I was dying my hair, but really it's just that it looks darker 'cause there's more of it.
Now, I used it on the front of my scalp, and the box clearly states that Minoxidil is only clinically proven to work on the back of your scalp, but what have you got to lose? It may or may not work for you, but it worked great for me, and I highly recommend it.
The price is right as well. Less than $30 for a 6 month supply is a great deal. And applying it isn't nearly the hassle you might imagine. If you're just getting started, you might encounter some slight itchiness of the scalp, or in my case, some serious dandruff. Do yourself a favor, stick with this stuff. Use a dandruff shampoo and scrub it into your scalp when you shower, and the dandruff will go away completely in less than a week.
Like I said, 5 months in, much thicker hair, no dandruff or scalp problems, I'm totally satisfied.
Customer Review: 24 years old, seeing significant results before the 2 month mark Summary: 5 Stars
I'm 24, and have been noticing my hair thinning since I was around 20 years old. The thinning has been occurring both on the crown of my head and the front. Although there were no completely bald spots (except where the hairline was receding), the thinning was extremely apparent, and the top of my head would probably have been completely bald within a couple years.
I have been using this product since the beginning of May. Because I'm still pretty young and my balding was not too advanced yet, I have only been applying the product about once a day (I've missed a couple days here and there). Although the product is not officially approved for the frontal baldness, I've been applying it both to the top of my head and the front.
As of about a week ago, I noticed a significant amount of new hair growing within the thinning area. Indeed, if I were to cut my hair short right now, the thinning would be barely noticeable anymore. My boyfriend even commented that the change was very apparent.
This supply will probably last me almost a year since I use about half of what's recommended. In the future, when the balding would be more significant, I may have to use more to keep up... but either way, I am very satisfied with the product's performance.
