This is definetly more than expected for the price. I think that the accuracy of +/- half cm as discuss in other reviews is more dependable on your ability to place the tape over the exact part of your body rather than a mechanical problem of the myotape itself. It will be an excellent purchase as long as you remember it was cheap and try it gently. My recommendation, as you pull the tape make yourself sure to pressure the bottom to avoid breaking the internal machinery.
I will recommended this product to anyone with a limited budget and a desire to measure their workout achievements.

This item is perfect for my use and I highly suggest it. I don't believe in weighing myself to track progress and using this tool, as opposed to using a regular tape measurer, makes life so much easier!! It is great that I can rely on its consistent measuring tension each time, instead of my own measurements. Some people have complained that the end comes out of the socket rather easier, but I don't get why they would complain about it. It is supposed to just hold the end in place for a moment.
This is a great tool, and at such a good value!! Really, go for it!! You won't regret it.

I never checked the accuracy of this against a regular tape measure, so I can't speak to that. But it's a convenient way to regularly measure on a consistent basis. (FYI -- it's one of the easiest and most accurate ways to check your body fat percentage -- google "military body fat charts" to learn about it.) Some things you could do on your own with a regular tape measure, but this makes for easy, one-handed operation.
Held up steady for a while, but when I was away my kids were playing with it and broke it, and I'm buying another one. I think that about says it all.

I was worried that my measurements weren't consistent in tension (therefore giving me sad or inaccurate news of my progress), so I thought the price of this was worth a try. My biggest beef is that the plug/socket idea that makes this self-looping isn't totally secure. I'll get it around my arm, put the end in its holder, and before I can press the button to tighten it, the end will pop out, and I have to start the process all over again. If they could make that more secure, this would be an AMAZING product - myself, I'm thinking of adding some stick-on Velcro to improve it myself!Customer Review: Close, but no cigar

I really like the idea of this product. However, I've found that my measurements tend to be slightly off. I think this is due to the curved surface of the dispenser - not all body parts have the same level of curvature, and if you are measuring a body part (i.e. waist or hips) that has a larger radius, the results will be less precise. Also, I've found that the locking mechanism still allows the tape to move 1/2" after you release it, therefore causing results to be even less reliable. I really like the idea of this product, but it doesn't work as well as I had hoped.
