I bought this peppermint oil because I read online that it would deter mice. The label says that this oil is not intended for ingestion, so I am only using it for external purposes. I soaked some cotton balls and placed them around the house and in cracks/holes in the walls where I heard the mice. I haven't heard them since the first night I used the oil! Hopefully they're gone for good. This oil is also nice for tension headaches and muscle aches... I dab a little on my fingers and massage it into my temples or shoulders. It feels great, smells great, and is very refreshing!Customer Review: Good smelling deterrent

This really is a great smelling mouse deterrent, one reviewer recommends replacing the peppermint doused cottonballs once a month I've found that I need to do it more frequently like once every two weeks and since that is so frequent and hard to keep up with I purchased once of those mouse packs with the long lasting peppermint and spearmint leaves that require less freq change.That's the only reason I gave three stars instead of four, it's the high frequency of changing the cotton balls require, but its better than having to deal with traps and the nasty little critters.Customer Review: Mice+Peppermint Oil=Mice Be Gone!

It has gotten cold and I happened to be cleaning my kitchen thoroughly when I noticed droppings around the stove and the counter. I was EXTREMELY VEXED! I am very in fear of mice. I was gonna call the owner of my house and let her know I was moving! During the call, she convinced me to use peppermint oil around the house. It worked! I check everyday and havent seen a dropping! I put dabs of the stuff on cotton balls. I put them everywhere...in cabinets, drawers, under my bed, behind the refrigerator. Its a very low price to get rid of the problem! I too have used this product for deter mice from coming into my home. It is much better than nasty traps, and you don't have to worry about using around your pets because one it won't hurt them, and two dogs stay away from it anyway because they don't like the smell either. And it makes your house smell great. I'm ordering some different oils to try to get rid of spiders. one drop of each in 1 quart of water citronella oil, lavender oil, cinnamon oil, peppermint oil, citrus oil, and tea tree oil. I purchased this item based on the number of good reviews it received. After I purchased it, I went on to read some of the reviews and one of them jumped out at me stating it was a "danger to cats". I went onto the ASPCA website and it is indeed dangerous to use peppermint oil around cats. The ASPCA recommends not using peppermint leaves or oil in areas where your cat is allowed access. This information should have been listed on the product information so cat owners could see this before purchasing the product.
