I purchased this product mainly because of how novel and attractive the cupcakes looked. How functional the lip gloss actually was, was not really a determining factor in purchasing the gloss.
The cupcakes are very tiny, almost surprisingly so. From the widest point of it's edges, it approximates at about 1"x1", give or take a bit of measurement due to the cupcake type(the chocolate cupcake sits taller than the others because of the plastic deco).
Each cupcake gloss is slightly colored(translucent when worn) and scented(but not flavored). Scents are subtle and pleasant. The gloss itself has a rather solid texture and it takes a bit of dislodging by the finger tip to get an amount to cover the lips. Once on, it's smooth and light. It's not very glossy at all, in fact. It has more lip-balm qualities than anything.
One major drawback to the design is it's difficulty in opening. In attempting to open the first cupcake, the plastic frosting snapped off. They are rather cheaply made, but for the price of the product, I was not expecting high-end manufacturing.
The product is very cute, attracts a lot of attention, and once you've become skilled enough to open it, it's usable on a daily basis. Probably not an ideal gift for little girls because of how difficult it is to open, though it makes a cute desktop or make-up counter aesthetic. Each cupcake can be a cute gift for friends or co-workers.
