I have been taking 5htp 50 mg for past 1 year for relief from PMS related depression and migraines .
Then I switched to 100 mg ,and it was horrible .
I am tired of too vivid dreams all through the night (sometimes nightmares as vivid like seeing a horror movie) that I was waking up exhausted .
I experienced some very bad side effects like aggression , heart palpitation ,nausea etc on taking 100 mg 5Htp daily.

So I did some research and found that 5HTP indeed has side effects with higher doses.
These are reported side effects of 5htp
*Gastrointestinal disturbances such as flatulence, feeling of fullness, heartburn, edema, diarrhea or constipation and rumbling sensations
*Nausea
*Rashes or flushing
*Headaches
*Vivid dreams, at times worsening to become nightmares
*Cardiovascular conditions which include high blood pressure, post-heart attack post-stroke
*Chronic digestive disorders such as Crohn's Disease, ulcers, or irritable bowel syndrome
*Anorexia Nervosa
*Liver and lung disease
*Myalgia, Peripheral Neuropathy, sickle cell anemia and hemophilia

I feel much better when I stopped 5HTP and has switched to raw veggies and fruits diet with flaxseeds and almonds .
Also doing Yoga and taking Gingko Biloba .
