Customer Review: Do a little more research. NIGHTMARES!

I was looking for an alternative to Sam - E, which I have found to be a great product as well, a little on the pricey side. Read the reviews on the 5-HTP and was very excited by the consumers that boosted of its tranquil qualities and as an appetite suppressant. I ordered right away and it was at my doorstep in just two says with PRIME.
First 100 mg pill I took after a light breakfast and could not believe that I, the person that thinks she's starving if not eating again in 3 hours, went all day without even thinking of food. I had to force myself to eat a late lunch almost 7 hours after my breakfast. The first pill!!! Amazing. I have Mitral Valve Prolapse, so caffeinated pills, ginseng, all the ingredients that speed up the heart are just not something I like taking due to the rapid and off kilter heart beat. So I was in heaven with this product. Took another pill before bed and slept like a rock. Another plus. I had been sleeping poorly, stressed during the day, many things needed changing besides just taking 5-HTP, but I was pleased with the outcome so far.
Day two, same scenario, same results.
Day three, the nightmares began. I did not put two and two together because I had not read that in the reviews. I had also had a few cocktails that evening after taking the pill. I spent two nights in a toss and turn fit, in a wide eyed rage because I absolutely could not fall back asleep after waking from the nightmares. It was awful. I became jumpy, and experienced bright lights in my vision during those nights. I have decided to cut back to one pill in the morning to benefit from the suppressant effects as well as the antidepressant role. No more pills at bedtime. I had a round of nightmares just last night and today is my first day on the lower dose (100 mg once a day rather than the suggested dose of two times per day), which I had at breakfast time.
Please research this product and be sure the dosage is the right one for you. I am not willing to give up on the 5-HTP, but will definitely experiment with the amount taken and when I take it to see how it affects my sleep as well as the quality of the sleep. Will post down the road.
