I really found this to be a great kit, regardless if you have anyone else who'll use it other than yourself. The instructions mention switching the bottles anyway, I believe every 3 months or so, which makes sense even if not everyone prefers to. So, if you're worried about having too much, I'd say not to worry.
I really thought this was a good kit and I've been using it for about 2 or so months now. I admit I am also using part of the Nasaline system as well, since I had ordered that first and it took a while to get here, so much of my review is based on comparison.
I do think this is ideal for those who are nervous about trying sinus irrigation, just as I was, or if you have kids. I really like the solution that comes with this kit, even when compared to the Nasaline, and there's plenty of it. Although Nasaline felt more comfortable at first (finer grain), I think that it's just salt versus this type and that it maybe less effective for it (to me anyway), so I prefer to use Neilmed more in that case.
The only part where I sway more toward Nasaline is when it comes to the using it. Nasaline has a syringe-type device that you use, which I feel causes less backwash, so to speak, when compared to this bottle. It is a bit of a hassle in the sense that you still use 8oz of water, but the syringe only carries up to 2oz, resulting in it needing to be refilled - though this is pretty easy and fast to do. You also obviously have to have a spare cup for this.
I also find the syringe faster when applying as I'm irrigating for some reason, and I like having more control versus the squeeze method, but some may struggle with using too much pressure, so it's good to think about what your prefer most. So far, I've not had trouble there. In the end, I do like the Neilmed solution with the Nasaline device, but I will probably take Neilmed bottle with me when I travel, since it's less hassle in the scheme of things.
As far as its effectiveness, I do find that it's been quite helpful, even if I haven't used it religiously. I have been prone to allergy and sinus trouble in the last year or more, including post nasal drip, and this does help tremendously. I currently have a cold at the moment, so I can't say how well it prevents, but I also wasn't using it as consistently as I should have, which I plan to stick to now. When I'm not sick, I do find that it really helps my post nasal drip and I've been sleeping better at night.
