Customer Review: Saved me money on decongestants

My allergist recommended that I rinse my sinuses 2 or 3 times a day for chronic rhinitis related to allergies. I had been taking over the counter strong decongestants daily for 6 to 8 months at a time. Since using the NeilMed salt packets I have not needed oral decongestants at all. At first the solution was stronger than the product I was using before called SinuCleanse. However, the NeilMed is far superior than SinuCleanse and is better at keeping me breathing freely. My sinus health has improved in ways I never thought possible. Recently I had the symptoms of a cold that usually would have taken root, but not with this product! The Neilmed sinus rinse packets (together with their plastic bottle) are an excellent way to keep your sinuses in good shape during the winter and spring allergy seasons. The saline solution the Neilmed packets provide is better than the generic version (my husband and I both found the generic versions to sting when used). The bottle and packets were originally recommended by a doctor to us as a way to keep sinus infections from getting started, and even to limit the amount of allergy medication needed to handle bad sinuses. We use it every night, and sometimes in the morning as well if our sinuses are starting to feel rough. The rinse may feel weird the first few times you use it, but it REALLY helps and I have recommended it to many people.Customer Review: Not the same as SinuCleanse

I have been using the SinuCleanse salts for some time now. I love salt packets because they make the netipot process so much simpler, so I'm willing to put out the money. The NeilMed salts were the only ones available at my local drugstore, so I bought them in lieu of my usual. I find these salts are much harsher on my nose, even though they say a single packet is the "isotonic," milder washing dose. SinuCleanse recommends using a half packet of their salts in this case (also reduces the salty irritation), but when I tried this with the NeilMed salts, my sinuses got totally swollen! I wish they had written the ratio of salt to baking soda on the box like other salt packets, but I guess this is "patented" by the company.Customer Review: Makes using the neti pot quick & easy

I admit, things are crazy enough that any extra effort means I might not get to something. Like using a neti pot to rinse my sinuses---it's awfully useful in reducing post-nasal drip and stuffiness, and removing the extra step of measuring ingredients means that I do it just that more often. I also like the formulation of the NeilMed rinse, which stings less than some. Having the pre-mixed packets makes rinsing a breeze---just snip open a packet, dump the contents into the neti pot, fill with the lukewarm water, and you're good to go! Okay, so ideally I'd mix my own and it would be cheaper and produce less packaging. Short review: These packets are the perfect blend of salt and other ingredients that you add to the water in a nettie pot. These things really do work. I have serious sinus issues every spring and I use these packets daily during this season. My sinus's are clean, pollen is flushed out and so is the extra mucus. I really can say I breathe better now that I started using this product.
I used to mix my own mixture up, it honestly is not hard to do, but almost every time I made it, there was a slight discomfort when passing the water through my nasal passage. These packets are precision measured to ensure that the saline formula in your pot is consistant every time.
