Much of the positive research with Magnets speak about using the North side mostly, as the South side can stimulate an area, drawing blood, and increasing inflammation if there is any there.
Nautical teachings, however, label magnets differently than the scientists who did the research. In Nautical terms, the North side of a magnet points North when dangled from a string. Science, however, calls this the South side of the magnet, since it is the South side of a magnet that seeks the North pole of the earth.
Research shows that it can be potentially dangerous to place the South side of a magnet against your skin, and yet this magnet's South side is labeled North, making it a possible hazard. So, I wouldn't use the side labeled North, unless you have tested it to be sure that it is the true North side, which is commonly recommended for pain, killing cancer cells, decreasing inflammation etc. The true North side of a magnet will attract the North side of a compass needle if you wish to test it. Despite the labeling error, though, these magnets are of good quality and strength.
