I use the toner to clean my face and neck. I found that since I don't wear foundation or powder, the toner does not really pick up any more dirt from my face, as long as I have washed my face with a face washcloth. This is an optional step that you might not need after all, and you could save some money to skip it. The alcohol smell is quite strong, for I have to close my eyes and stop breathing until the smell evaporates. This Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner left my face feeling clean and fresh and didn't dry my skin out like some other toners do. This product claims to reduce the appearance of pores and lines, which I didn't really notice, but maybe you have to use it for longer. Though this toner had a fairly strong medicinal fragrance, I didn't find the odor objectionable and it seemed to dissipate rather quickly after application. I think it's all in my head that the product actually reduced my pores' appearance from large to small. I don't think it actually did this. However, the product was very cool, refreshing, and uplifting when applied to my face. The smell was wonderful. It appears to have some alcohol content -- made my skin feel very clean. It's also a very good wake-up trick for your face. I'll continue to use this product. I like it.Customer Review: Wonderful Toner!!

I have been using this toner for a couple of weeks and I am really pleased! I am 44 years old and I have dark acne scars. These scars have started to lighten up and my complextion have a wonderful glow and clearer look. I don't have any wrinkles but I really have noticed a difference in my complextion. This toner also pulls the dirt out of my skin as well. I don't think the smell is strong at all.Customer Review: Great toner

I really haven't noticed much of a difference in pore size from using this product alone, though other products in the Pore Refining line work really well to this effect. What I love about this toner, though is that it doesn't dry out my skin at all, and it leaves my skin feeling clean and smooth. I do get fewer blackheads and blemishes when I use this product. Recommended.
