Customer Reviews of Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock, SPF 55, 3 Ounces (Pack of 2)

Customer Review: Great product, but can hurt when applied around eyes
Summary: 5 Stars

I really like this sunscreen. The UVA/UVB protection is so important, and most sunscreens only block UVA. The lotion goes on feeling like a regular greasy sunscreen, but it disappears rapidly into the skin and it truly doesn't feel greasy at all once it dries. I am not sure how or why, but I swear it also evens out my skintone. I do recommend applying a light coat of your regular moisturizer around the eyes first, as I find this sunscreen can sting when put on the delicate skin under the eyes. I made the mistake of slathering it on over my eyelids once, and I wouldn't recommend that you do that. I found when I sweated, the sunblock crept into my eyes. Ouch. So just don't apply it over the eyes and you should be fine. Anyway, great product.

Customer Review: Dr. Recommended for a Reason
Summary: 5 Stars

My dermatologist recommended I use this product due to the incidence of skin cancer in my family and the previous damage to my skin from excessive and improper exposure. Due to the dry formulation and minimal scent I was able to use it at all times when in the sun, not just the beach and pool. I noticed no staining on my clothes and it didn't compete with aftershave. After a hot and sunny July week in Fl, I was noticeably tanned but suffered no burning and peeling, including tops of feet and head. It is not inexpensive but one tube was sufficient for my needs as well as facial and shoulder touchups for my two teenage girls. I would recommend this product to anyone who enjoys the sun and wants to protect their skin and their health.

Customer Review: Not waterproof at all
Summary: 1 Stars

[...] After rubbing in a generous amount, I noticed that it really was invisible and didn't have any odor. I thought I found the perfect sunscreen... until I got in the water (after the recommended 30 min wait period). It had to have washed off as I got a bad burn. Sure, I burn easily, but a sunscreen should prevent it from happening.

One that I've used recently that was truly waterproof was the Hawaiian Creations sunscreen. So waterproof, in fact, that it required soap to wash it off. However, I developed rashes, which is why I tried the Neutrogena. Now I have to keep looking. I'm going to try Aloe Gator next.

I recommend passing on this Neutrogena product if you plan on going in the water.

Customer Review: Leaves no Residue or Sticky feeling
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband is a photographer in the Caribbean. He's exposed to a lot of sun every day but with his expensive equipment, he hates getting grease on his gear and comes home very burnt. A friend mentioned this product as a good sunscreen that leaves no residue or film on the skin and objects one may touch. We bought it and are very pleased with it. It is odorless, has a clean feel, and does not leave a film behind. I wish it came in a larger size; it's a bit costly when compared to other sunscreen products, but it's worth it for the daily use that would be needed when out and about. The supplier was very helpful, shipped it quickly, and it arrived in time with some complimentary lip balms. Will buy again.

Customer Review: Good sunscreen
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall a good sunscreen. It goes on fairly well and doesn't streak. When I perspired or got water on it where I put the sunscreen on, the sunscreen did not run. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that it contains some ingredients that has some controversy about them. This sunscreen contains three different parabens which has some controversy about it being a carcinogenic and homosalate. I didn't know this until I'm becoming more educated about green issues. This hasn't prevented me from throwing away my unused portion of the sunscreen. After I am done though, I'm going to try out Aubrey Organics, as theirs do not contain any questionable toxins (or another brand if Aubrey doesn't work out).
