Customer Reviews of Neutrogena Wave Power-Cleanser and Deep Clean Foaming Pads

Customer Review: Smoother skin--really
Summary: 4 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The Wave promises softer skin after one use, and I have to say this is
true. The small device is easy to hold and switch on and off, and the pad
is very gentle. It does deep clean and exfoliate as promised, and the
fragrance of the soap is mild and pleasant. After using it for a couple
of weeks I could really see a difference in my skin. It's easy to change
the scrubbing pad--it sticks with a Velcro-like action. It doesn't slip,
yet it's easy to remove.

However, you have to use a fresh pad with every use, and given the cost of
the pads ($8 for 30 pads) it's a little more than I want to spend. If I
continue to use this product, I probably will use it only once per week.
I'm not sure anyone really needs to exfoliate more than that.

I also found that I really have to pile on the moisturizer after use, but
I have very dry skin.

All in all this is a good product. I would have liked it if the soap
lathered a bit more, but it performed as promised and it's convenient to
use--if you can remember to change the pad before you get in the shower,
which I frequently forget to do!

I've also reviewed the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Rejuvenator, The Anti Aging Power Treatment Kit. As far as I can tell, this is basically the same thing, with a slightly modified wave powered thing, and a different formula on the puffs. One puff is pink. The other is blue. You can use either puff on either vibrating puff applier, so if you've already bought one kit and want to try the other refills, go ahead.

I did not like the puffs that came with this kit nearly as much as I liked the other ones. I have combination skin--oily in the T zone, but dry around the cheeks--and I found that this cleanser did little to combat the oiliness, but dried out the cheeks. I also found that the lather that this little device generated was not enough to really give me the feel of cleansing. Other people with different skintypes may have a different experience, but the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Rejuvenator, The Anti Aging Power Treatment Kit worked better for me.

Customer Review: Not Bad, Not Great

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The product description claims that the Neutrogena Wave deep cleans and removes dirt and oil from deep within pores. No product can do that, but certainly a surface scrubber can't, regardless of how much it vibrates.

For what it is -- a cleansing pad attached to a small vibrator -- this product is fine. There's no reason to spend the money it costs, though, when you can get the same results with any good cleanser.

The pads are not too rough; the exfoliation they provide is gentle (as it should be). It was hard to work up a lather just by running water over the pad, but smooshing it with your fingers under the water and then attaching it to the vibrator works pretty well. The pads are scented; the scent is pleasant and not at all overpowering, but this product would not be a good choice for someone who is allergic to fragrances.

I did not find this product relaxing, nor did using it feel like pampering in any way. It's just a vibrating face cleaner.

Overall, I'd say this is just a gadget. No one needs it, but if you really want to use it, you're probably not going to do too much damage to your skin.

Customer Review: Skin that's squeaky clean

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
After fighting with the hand held wave power cleanser/massager in an attempt to install the battery (it was almost like trying to remove a "child proof cap" from a prescription bottle)I prepared for my first use of the item.

My observations are as follows:
1. The pads do not really "suds up" and left me wondering if there was actually any product in them.
2. The vibrating "massage" was pleasant enough and obviously was doing something to my skin since after the second use I noticed a breakout of a few small "pimples".(Could it be that it cleansed impurities in my pores and brought them to the surface?).
3. After a week of use the pimples cleared up and my skin did appear to have a more refined look.

Overall I would say that the product does perform as advertised. It is a "Power Cleanser". Do not expect that it will diminish your wrinkles or make you look like you've had professional skin resurfacing. What you do get using the power wave is a healthy glow from the stimulation the massager provides and a clean face. (What more could a gal ask for??)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I am reviewing this for the Vine Program. I found the unit easy to use and the result of the cleansing of my skin feeling refreshed and smoother. However, that said, the vibration that it creates is much too intense and it is unpleasant when used for more than a few seconds. I did not like using it around my mouth because it made my teeth ache. It is difficult to use on the neck area due to the major blood vessels that have to be avoided in order to not stimulate the carotid arteries or to elicit a vaso-vagal response and find myself fainting if one were to overstimulate that area of the neck. Another concern is for people who have telangiactasis or spider nevi on their faces which are very susceptible to breaking and bleeding if too much pressure is used. In view of these specific dermatological concerns without a physician's approval I would not recommend it for anyone with blood vessel problems on their face. Nice concept, but the flaw in my opinion is the intensity of the vibration. Perhaps a AAA battery would be better than the AA battery included with this unit. Thank you for the opportunity to provide this review and feedback.
