Customer Reviews of Neutrogena Wave Power-Cleanser and Deep Clean Foaming Pads

Customer Review: nice skin cleaner
Summary: 3 Stars

delivers on it's promise, but then buff pad (cheaper) does the sam thing. Was unimpressed, though it does everything they say. Just nothing special.

Customer Review: works great for acne
Summary: 5 Stars

I am 27 years old and been to a dermatologist who gave me antibiotics to curb my acne, which didn't really work. I've been using AcneFree for over a year and it helps but it really dries out my skin so I use it when necessary and use another cleanser than the one that comes with AcneFree... I was still getting zits with this method so I decided to try the Neutrogena Wave. I was skeptical at first but thought it might do the trick and I am amazed to say it works. I have reduced my breakouts by 97% I'd say, with one occasionally popping up here or there (mainly on my forehead where I don't always reach with the Wave. I use it once a day, right after I get home from work when my face is dirtiest, and use other cleansers before bed and in the morning when there's not so much to clean. If I break out I use it twice a day and use the AcneFree lotion and they go away. Buy it if you need something to clean deep down in your pores, it really does and it really leaves your face softer. If you don't get acne or really need to clean your pores, this might not be a good investment for you.

Customer Review: It's ok.......
Summary: 3 Stars

This product is ok. I didn't see a big improvement but it didn't make my skin any worse.

Customer Review: Not quite what I had hoped it would be.
Summary: 3 Stars

I have to say that while it seemed to work OK, the Wave Power Cleanser is nothing special.

I liked the size and shape, fitting perfectly into my hand and easy to keep a hold of in the shower. Battery lasts a long time and the massaging head feels good when you are using it. The cleaning pads are a good size, about a half dollar and are really easy to attach to the device. The head of the cleaner is like Velcro and the pad sticks to it. The pads are pre-soaped and are activated just by running them under water. They have a gentle fragrance as well, that reminds me of tea tree cleansers.

All that makes it sounds like some really great thing, right? Even so, I was unimpressed. I used it for a full week and while it says safe to use more than once a day, while that may be true, for my skin it was too much. I have very sensitive, normal to oily skin. The soap for this cleanser was too harsh for my skin, which really surprised me since Neutrogena is known for face products good for sensitive skin. It dried my skin out something awful and made my whole face feel really tight. I had to use a lot of moisturizer, which I rarely have to use every time I tried this cleanser.

I also noticed no change in the cleanliness of my skin or pores from using the Neutrogena Wave Power Cleanser. I couldn't see or feel any changes, except for the overly dry skin. While it lathered up nicely and smelled really good, and is really easy to use, the fact that it didn't seem to make any difference for me in spite of that means I won't likely be having to worry about all the refill kits for the pads. I just go back to my Paula's Choice Skin Care products.

Customer Review: surprisingly good results!
Summary: 4 Stars

I thought the Neutrogena Wave looked a little gimmicky and didn't expect much, but I'm a product junkie and will try anything once. I am honestly surprised at the great results I've had with it. Everyone has noted that the product is easy to use, etc, but what I'm really pleased with is how smooth my skin is after just three days. I have combination oily/dry skin with mild to moderate breakouts and just an overall uneven/bumpy texture, and I wear a normal amount of makeup (foundation, concealer, powder as a base).

After using the Wave, I've seen (and felt) a noticeable improvement in the texture of my skin. Seriously, those annoying little bumps on my forehead are gone. I've also noticed that the Wave reduced breakouts before they could really dig in - instead of a blemish growing and lasting for up to a week, I've gotten rid of several "under the skin" blemishes in just two to three days. The third effect has been on overall oiliness - at the end of the day, my skin is less oily than normal. My pores do seem smaller.

So, even though I was prepared for disappointment, I am really happy with the results. This isn't a miracle product, but I do think the vibrations are effective. The best way to take advantage of them is to move the product over your skin slowly, letting the vibrations work the foam down into each section of pores.

I've been using the Wave pads with an extra dab of my usual (non-medicated) face wash, just because I like a little extra lather. I follow with a toner and moisturizer, per normal. I've been using this product once a day in the evening, so that my face is very clean before I go to sleep. Some people have complained about not being able to use the Wave to remove eye makeup, but I use a separate eye makeup remover anyway so that's not a concern for me.

If you are concerned about the cost of the pads, I've read other reviews suggesting using a regular round cotton pad (you'll find them next to the cotton balls in any store or pharmacy; they are round and flat just like the Wave pads) or cutting your own out of felt and then adding your own face wash.
