Customer Reviews of NewLine Space Saver Digital Glass Kitchen ScaleCustomer Review: Needs work! Summary: 2 Stars
I have had this for a little over 6 mo's. waiting to write a review as I wanted to see how it worked.
Pro's:
Great on the gram weighing, right down to one vs. five as most do. Also, very compact and folds up nicely, huge plus for those of us with small kitchens.
Con's
The thing does not stay on! It's really a PIA when your measuring something and turn to grab more product and it shuts off, your measurements are gone.
Cant get the clock or timer to work at all (someone else mentioned this as well). It's not a big deal, but if it's there shouldnt it work?
The thing is clumsy, you have to measure everything towards the back of the bowl and then it tips over if it's to much stuff. I also think it is not giving accurate measurements because of this.
I really wanted this so I could measure things in my large KA bowl without covering up the numbers, but I think I'll have to breakdown and buy a different one, it just doesnt work right.
Might be a good fit for someone using it for simple food measuring, but if your a baker, I'd find a different product. I know I'll be out looking for one!
Customer Review: Perfect Scale Summary: 5 Stars
I couldn't be happier with this scale! I have recently had gastric bypass surgery and bought this to weigh the tiny portions (1-2 ounces).
Number one best feature: readout is above the scale. All of the other scales I saw had the readout at the bottom - putting it underneath the plate/food you are trying to weigh!
Number two best feature: It folds for easy storage. Slides right in to a drawer. The base is glass, so I'm not sure how it would travel, but it seems pretty thick and sturdy.
Number three best feature: easily goes between ounces and grams. This isn't even something I thought I'd need, but it turns out that things like egg substitute is listed in grams on the nutrition label (1 serving is = to 61g).
That leads to the 4th best feature: easy to weigh other items! So I weigh my egg in grams and now I want to add an ounce of ham. I don't have to dirty another dish. Just zero out the eggs, switch to ounces and add the ham.
I highly recommend this scale!
Customer Review: Decent, accurate, but could be better Summary: 3 Stars
Positives: Decent looking, seemingly accurate and consistent. Basically, it performs its core task well. What kept it from a 5-star rating? A couple of things, which I will point out simply because this is a $30 scale and others might like to know:
1. We intended for this to be a countertop scale (not wall-mounted). However, we soon discovered a design flaw: When folded up, the bottom of the scale no longer sits flat due to the protrustion of the hinge. This could have been easily overcome had the designers envisioned that people might NOT actually want to mount it on the wall. This sort of defeats the "space saver" element of the name.
2. Thermometer is 2-4 degrees off. Again, not a big deal, but since there is a thermometer on it, I figured this deserved mention.
Customer Review: Not the most rugged scale ever made Summary: 3 Stars
When it works, it's pretty good. However, given the very poor wall-mounting bracket and the barely-there way it holds the scale, mine fell 6 inches to the counter as I was putting it away. Now it only works if I remove the batteries and power it on, then weigh everything before the auto-off feature kicks in. Otherwise I get an error message.
In theory it's useful if you have limited counter space, but all things considered - the terribly insecure wall hinge, the fragility of it - you'd be better off spending your cash on a simple, more sturdy countertop model.
Lastly, the thermostat is not accurate. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but it's fairly useless.
Customer Review: Great find! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this scale last month. It's a great item. I needed a scale to help with my weight loss, and this stepped up to the challenge. I had a scale I wanted to replace cause I questioned it's accuracy. I bought one at the kitchen store and immediately took it back, it wasn't worth the $30.00 I paid for it. After searching and researching I found this one. I paid a few dollars less, plus shipping, but it was worth every penny. I found out I was getting cheated by my old scale and this one measures in oz/lbs or metric gm etc. It hangs on the wall, and folds up or stands on the counter. The clock is a nice bonus too.
