Customer Review: D-ribose kills a variety of human and animal cells and cell lines

I bought this supplement recently, without doing sufficient research on it, just to try it and see.
I thought I did not have much more than $20 to lose. I later came across an article named
"D-Ribose and Deoxy-D-Ribose Induce Apoptosis in Human Quiescent Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells"
by Barbieri et al (you can google the title). According to the article, D-Ribose induces cell death
by oxidative stress. I thought it would be a good time for me to return the bottle, but I had already
opened it and consume some...
I do not mean to scare anyone, just to add my $0.02. In fact, I felt dizzy after consuming the D-Riboze
and that was before reading the article. I do not think the dizziness was due to cell death (it would
not occur that fast), but I do think this supplement is not healthy for me. I asked my hematologist
(a very good one) and he said he does not believe in this type of supplement.

A daily intake of 5g in the morning stirred into a green drink or orange juice, increasing it as needed to 3 times daily, creates a slow but consistent increase in engery, which is often severely lacking in fibro patients.
D-Ribose is also vital in muscles building and aids the heart. People with heart disease in the family or people who suffer from ailments which can ultimately also cause heart diseases (as in Rheumatoid Arthritis) can benefit from this supplement.
This supplement has a very slight smoky sweet taste and is easily to digest.
I habe diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis as well as Fibromyaglia and show heart diseases on both sides of my family.

I purchased this after hearing about it on the Dr. Oz show. I was skeptical, but decided to give it a try. I mix 2 tsp in my morning orange juice, and it dissolves completely. The juice is a little sweeter, but other than that you cannot tell that anything has been added. I have found that I have more endurance and energy during moderate and intense exercise, and can workout harder and still function afterward. If you are dragging from lack of sleep and too much stress, this will not make you bounce out of bed in the morning and run all day. It gives a little boost to this middle aged body to make a hard workout more successful.Customer Review: The Jury is Out

The only research done so far on d-ribose is from the guy that holds the patent on it (and thus makes money on every bottle that sells). His research was not placebo controlled and was self reported (from what I read). So, very subjective. The testimonials here on Amazon are about as good as any other info you can find on the internet.
That being said, I just bought a bottle. We will see. The patent holder is doing better placebo controlled (maybe even double blind?) research. So the jury is still out for me personally and for science.

D-Ribose Powder 8 oz
Started approx March 10th. Take it in AM and early PM. Has next to no taste and drank it in water. It took about 2 weeks to feel better and even started doing my crafts which I hadn't been doing for about 1 year.
Dr Oz recommends it for anyone who feels tired.
Really great a I have ordered more product at a great price.
