We have 2 toilets in our home and I use the little cartridge cleaner system that hangs in the tank in one of my toilets which actually works very well. Given that toilet's success and the fact that the little water dispensing tube in the tank of my 2nd toilet for some reason doesn't deliver a powerful enough stream of water to use a 2nd hang on cartdige system in this toilet, I decided to try another of their products to test it.
I waited and let the toilet get nice and dirty to see how strong the stuff was. It appeared to get all the residue that was above the water line fairly well aside from a few little residue "trails" leading down to the water line. The ring around the water line also didn't get clean... looks like it didn't even phase it.
After about 4 months of use, I've noticed that the best way to get the best performance out of this stuff is to use about half a cup full, let it foam up and then just lightly go over teh toilet with a scrub brush. I'll give it credit where credit is due and say that it really requires next to no effort on my part with the scrub brush. It does a great job of loosening it up for you so props to C&D for this. Requires less scrubbing effort after letting this stuff sit in the bowl for a few minutes than conventional squirt cleaner does.
I suspect if you use it more frequently than I do, it'd reduce the amount of scum built up around the water line but 10 seconds wiping the bowl with the brush is not really a big deal to me so I use this stuff less often.
