It is interesting to read the other reviews and note the vast differences of opinion. Had I not already purchased three (3) of these clip-ons, I might have had second thoughts myself.
My husband has always been able to work outside on our very small farm; however, I had to stay in or spray myself with enough DEET to be almost ill. Even with the sprays (and other types of products), any time outside meant the mosquitoes would find a spot or two to bite; these bites would bring about large red welts and days of tremendous itching (even with meds)!
Last year when I purchased my first OFF clip-on I was skeptical, but it was absolutely amazing. I could sit in the swing on our deck, even at dusk, and enjoy the sights, smells, and sounds of the coming evening. I was able to enjoy visits with friends while sitting on our porch instead of always having to stay indoors. No sprays needed and no bites! We've been married more than 40 years, and to the best of our memory, last year was the first year ever that I did not receive any mosquito bites.
Now I have an Off clip-on at every door of our home so no matter when I go outside, I am ready. One reviewer stated that if these stayed on the market he would be surprised. On the other hand, I would be greatly disappointed that such a wonderful product would be no more.

I live in TX, and we have a lot of mosquitos here. Unfortunately, I have always been a mosquito magnet - I walk out the door, and the mosquitos swarm around me. I like spending time outdoors, but I hate having to use the smelly, sticky sprays to repel the mosquitos. When this OFF Clip On product came out, I was excited but skeptical, as most non-spray mosquito repellents just don't work. THIS REALLY WORKS! I am amazed, and thrilled, at how well this keeps the mosquitos OFF of me (pun intended). I use mine every time I go outside to tend to the garden and water the plants, so it's used a lot - I've been through 2 refills over a 3 month period. Not too bad. I think it's well worth the price for the effectiveness and the convenience. (The price from the Amazon vendor is too high ($12.99) as it retails for $8.99.) but you can get these at any grocery or Target/Walmart.) I highly recommend it!
Update: I used this for several months, and for some reason, it stopped being effective. The mosquitos started biting, and were not deterred by the Clip-On. I changed the batteries and the refill in the unit, so I know it was at full strength, but the mosquitos kept biting me. Definitely strange, and disappointing, because I thought I'd finally found the answer to controlling mosquitos.

I'm sitting on my deck with a fresh refill and battery, and no breeze. This is my second refill...I wanted to give the device a fair shot before commenting.
I've been sitting for some time now, so should have a pretty good Off cloud around me. The mosquitoe traffic is quite light at the moment, early evening. At least 2 mosquitoes have landed on me (maybe more, I can't see my ankles -- the laptop is in the way -- or what's going on behind me!); they were immediately squashed. A third buzzed around the keyboard and my bare arms without landing.
A bit later: It's getting to be dusk, there are more mosquitoes and they are landing on and near me and my cloud. I am not allowing them to bite; I don't doubt they would have. When I am wearing the spray-on repellant, I expect mosquitoes to buzz around me, but not land on me. With this product, you don't expect them to come near you! They are. Period.
To be a fair experiment, I would turn off the Off clip-on and see how the two experiences compare (with and without the device). Maybe tomorrow night.
But, based on my experience tonight--which is very similar to previous uses of the product--I can only give it 2-1/2 stars. It works, SORT OF.
Customer Review: The BEST mosquito repellent EVER!!! Period.

Wow, I really can't believe the two previous reviews. I have to wonder if they even used the same product. The thing is absolutely AMAZING!!! I am mosquito candy. If I'm outside for just a few minutes, I'll get tons of mosquito bites. I don't know what it is but mosquitoes LOVE me. And I'm a smoker so I'm outside a lot. I tried the OFF clip on and just sit it on the stair right next to me when I smoke and never got bit once while I used it. I used it for about a month straight when my husband used it while working in the garage leaving it on for four hours straight and it all ran out. Now I constantly get bit. Just now I was outside smoking and got four mosquito bites! In about 5 minutes time. So I know it really works.
Used it, absolutely no mosquito bites, not even one. Been out for about a week and have gotten at least 15 mosquito bites just in this time period. This is absolutely the BEST mosquito repellent that I have ever tried. I have never found anything that really worked and I've tried the usual sprays, citronella candles, and skin so soft. OFF has earned a completely loyal customer in me from this little clip on! I'm definitely picking up some more refills tomorrow!

My mother-in-law purchased this for my wife for her birthday saying that they were 'all the rage' in her town. Her 'town' must be mosquito free because this thing is nothing but a useless waste of materials, packaging, production energy and the fossil fuel used to ship it acround the country. Point blank: IT DOES NOT WORK! My wife thought it was ridiculous so she told me to test it. Our swimming pool is in a pretty wooded area of our yard and the perfect proving ground. I read the directions, which made me laugh - wait a few minutes for the repellent to take effect. If I were to wait a few minutes, there wouldn't be anything left of me for mosquitoes to feed on!. Regardless, I did. I even stood perfectly still, as instructed (because you cannot move around with it on because it becomes ineffective - DUH!). If anything, the wind the device created attracted more mosquitoes. Want video proof? (Hmmm, could prove to be quite entertaining). DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS YOU LIKE THROWING AWAY MONEY.
Also, read the warnings: DO NOT BREATHE VAPORS. In order for it to work, it has to emit vapor.
Bottom line-this product is a huge joke, only I'm not laughing.
