Customer Reviews of Omron Body Fat Monitor and Scale

Customer Review: Accurate, consistent and feature-packed. This scale rocks!
Summary: 5 Stars

What has me so excited about a scale? Yes, this scale has great features and add-ins. But the main thing that I LOVE about this scale is that it is CONSISTENT and accurate. I have had previous digital scales (for example: Thinner brand) where you could weigh yourself three times in a row and get three different results - up to 2 lbs different! This is so frustrating for dieters and those who are closely watching their weight.

The Omron HBF-500 scale will give you the same result three times in a row, perhaps plus or minus 0.2 lbs at the most. No more wild swings and trying to guess what your true weight is. The body composition monitor and other features (multiple user settings) are great, too. But you don't have to use these features all the time - you can stand on it like a regular scale and get your weight, too. I'm very glad I upgraded our scale to this model. I am no longer frustrated by our scale - this is a consistent, accurate scale that works as advertised.

Customer Review: Cheaply made, inaccurate, junk.
Summary: 1 Stars

I was pretty excited to get this in the mail. However the excitement quickly wore off when I realized the scale doesn't work properly. I measured this scale against 3 other scales and they all got near the same number. However after weighing myself 10 times on this scale, I received 10 different answers. Now this was all on the same day as well so there was no way it was me losing/gaining weight. This measured me at 90lbs, thats a laugh, because the other three scales measured me at approx. 160lbs. This thing was poorly designed, the materials it is made out of look like dollar general quality (very loose, plastic). Can't believe I paid money for this, and now I have to make a trip up to the UPS store to return it. This is such a waste of money and time, if I were you I'd go to your local wal-mart or w/e and buy a $15 scale, it will work 10x better and it will hold up. And if you're curious about your fat %, just go to a local gym or the doctor. At least then you'll know for sure.

Customer Review: Awsome and Accurate as a Bathroom Scale!
Summary: 4 Stars

I have had this scale for about a year. This is by far the most accurate bathroom scale I have ever used! Most scales I have used are usually around 10lbs off. If I weigh myself on this scale and then on a hospital scale at an appointment a few hours later, there is not even a half a pound difference between the two! I absolute love it. I also love the following features: ability to store a record of weigh-ins, BMI and BFR measurements for multiple users! I would give this product 5 stars just on weight alone. But since it has other features like BMI (Body Mass Index) and BFR (% of Body Fat) measurements - I have to give it a 4 star rating as I find these features completely inaccurate and therefor utterly useless. My recommendation - if these additional features are not important to you and weight accuracy is - you still can't go wrong, in quality or price (there are far more expensive scales that offer only the functionality of weight measurements).

Customer Review: boo
Summary: 1 Stars

I've had this product for almost a year and I keep using it because I'm cheap, but it really doesn't work. The scale is consistent only if I put my feet in the exact same position and stand the exact same way every time. I even have to keep my arms in the same place every time to keep it from changing the reading. If I haphazardly step on and off, the reading can change by up to 5 pounds! What good is the tenth of a pound reading when it's five pounds off? Even with all that effort it is still only a consistent weight, not an accurate one. I have weighed myself all over town to compare and the Omron is always off. As far as the body fat monitor, I am 5'3" and weigh 128 pounds and it often tells me that I am 32% body fat, which would make me obese. I'd have to be a skin bag of blubber with no bones or organs to be 32% fat at my height and weight. I'm pretty disappointed after having read so many good reviews before I bought it.

Customer Review: Body fat % is way off but everything else checks in fine
Summary: 2 Stars

Ok, I purchased this product about a year ago and am finally getting around to a review. I can honestly say that the body fat % is a good bit off(about 10% higher on the scale) on this omron product. I've actually gotten measured at my university fitness club(by caliper) and also at my local ymca where they have the fancy machines that measure your body fat percentage; the difference between the fitness club and ymca is marginal, but the omron scale calculates my body fat % much higher(10%). I've tried taking the batteries out for a while so it can reset and still no luck. My wife uses the scale as well and she has the same issue I do. The weight and BMI measure fine as far as I can tell. I guess the silver lining about the Omron product is that for me the numbers were consistent so you could measure how you are doing compared to last week etc. I just wouldn't trust the actual body fat % number that pops up on the display.
