Customer Review: Good quality over price, but lacks accuracy

I've first seen this Omron at my nutritionist. She used to measure me and tell me about my status, so I thought it'd be great to have one at home.
I've ordered this from Amazon, good price, came very fast, but it's not accurate. This monitor showed me a very flattering Fat mass, with about 7% less than the one used by my nutritionist. Hers is from Europe and uses the metric system, but it's the same product.
I've measured my family and we got some incredible values, like 8% fat for my brother - ok, he might be skinny, but not THAT skinny.
So I recommend adding up some 6-7% when using this for measure.
It is a good product, with the 10 profiles, and it's a great instrument when you wanna lose body fat. Just keep in mind it shows a bit less fat than what you actually have

When I used to be a member at Curves, and now seeing the sleep doctor, at Curves this is part of the monthly measures they do on members. At my sleep doctor's, this is part of the rotine vitals along with checking your blood. So, I decided, since cheap enough, and free shipping, shoo, I will use this to aid in my losing weight. To watch the progress of losing body fat and BMI.
It is sa-WEEEEEEET that it comes with batteries as well! I would have never known about this had it not been for my ex-membership at Curves!
I will take cue from another reviewer, and do it in the morning before any food or liquids enter my physique...
Just got this today! Bless the hearts of UPS for delivering this to me today in what is considered bad weather advisary for my area...

The key with this product is to understand that your body's hydration level changes throughout the day, and thus you can/should expect the results to change accordingly. Pick one time in your daily routine where you can control all of your variables--I picked right after waking up in the morning. What matters isn't the specific number it gives you, but how that number changes day to day. Just look for the number to go down. Moment to moment, the meter seems precise, as the measurement does not change a wit.

A minor pet peeve--BMI is a simple function of height and weight. Seeing as the device only updates your weight every time you manually enter it, it seems a bit silly to have your BMI displayed all the time. More practical would be a simple BMI chart.

After reading multiple comments and feedback on this item, I have decided to try it. I mean the question of body fat is always an intriguing question. Product easy to use but you still have to read the directions, for best performance you have to extend your arms and hold it in a specific way. They also recommend that you do the measurements couple of hours after eating/drinking. I used it couple of times and now it is sitting somewhere in my basement collecting dust. I don't think this measurement method is accurate at all since the numbers that it showed me are no way real in my case. I admit I am 10lbs overweight so there is no way I am only 10% body fat. One good use of this product is to motivate you to work out more and hopefully that number would drop.

I've used this device for about 3 weeks now, and I think it's an excellent way to track your moving trend over time.

You do have to take your measurements in the same way every time, or you will see inaccuracies. If you bend your elbows (even a little), you can cause false-lower readings. Therefore, I always lock my elbows and test first thing in the morning after waking up. That way, all variables are constant over time, and I know I'm not getting a falsely low reading. Staying in a daily calorie deficit of about 600 cal below maintenance, I've gradually gone from mid-17'% to 16.0% even in about 3 weeks. I grabbed it for 15.9% this morning.

It's been surprising how many friends and acquaintances want to try it.
