Customer Reviews of Omron HEM-637 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with Advanced Positioning Sensor

Customer Review: Outstanding
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used the HEM-637 in conjunction with the Omron Pedometer(that came with software and USB-2 cable for about $24)for about 3 months now and nothing but good comments to report. Contary to other reviews I found that the BP monitor(with the purchase of a USB-1 cable(at Walmart, Radio Shack, etc)interfaces perfectly with the PC software and allows me to track both BP and walking performance. Omron email support said port on BP monitor was for European model w/printer. Omron telephone support gave me source and ID for the necessary cable.
BP unit is easy to use after get used to proper position (e.g use 2 or 3 times.) I have tried several BP cuffs over the years and find this unit much, much easier to use. Tracks well within limits versus the DR's office cuff. The software printed output is of value to the Dr. to see weekly/monthly results vs the one time reading in their office that varies high due to "white jacket syndrome." Maintains a log of date/time of each reading as well as graphiong results in various formats.
An excellent purchase but price varies greatly so shop around.

Customer Review: OMRON HEM 637 Wrist Cuff Blood Pressure Monitor
Summary: 4 Stars

This unit was procured for my wife. She likes it very much. The manual may confuse you, you are led to believe it is hard to get your arm in the right position...pointing up with your wrist, in-line, level with your heart. But the unit beeps when you achieve the correct position and then, starts to auto-inflate. Which, is wonderfull since it is hard or nearly impossible to look at the LCD screen while you are moving your arm up or down since the LCD screen is facing away from you.

Yes, you will occassionally get an "error" message...but you get that with forearm cuff. And putting it on the wrist is so much easier, than "forearm cuff." As for inaccurries between wrist and forearm....well that maybe true but excerpt for a Doctor/nurse taking your reading...I never would trust home units 100% anyway. You get a chance to monitor your blood pressure and perform some base-lining throughout the day. If you are real high, throughout the day, then you have some information to call your doctor's office and see if they are concern. At $39.00-49.00 well worth it.

Customer Review: I love it and I wish the clinics would go to a wrist monitor!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had mine for over a year and I love it. The readings are pretty accurate and when my blood pressure began to rise recently, I monitored my blood pressure for several hours. It was climbing higher and it was enough to finally convince me to seek medical attention. It also showed that one of the meds my cardiologist gave me to bring my blood pressure down had a negative impact on my blood pressure as it caused me pressure to drop down to 90 over 45! I was able to relay this information to my doctor and he adjusted my meds as a result of this. Had I not had this blood pressure monitor to check my blood pressure, I would not have known what was wrong or what to tell my doctor.

My daughter thinks she should have one of these for her family.

Also .... I dislike the arm Blood Pressure cuffs as they are quite painful for me and the wrist cuff is not painful at all. I wish the clinics and hospitals would use a wrist cuff!!

I highly recommend this product!!! It is worth evey penny!!

Customer Review: Accurate Wrist BP Monitor
Summary: 5 Stars

I compared it to the best rated the WalMart brand ReliOn brand It matched the readings within a 1 to 2 points. I made sure that my ReliOn was accurate using a stethoscope and also by comparing with a manual unit many times.

HEM-637 is quiter and much smaller than the ReliOn. One feature I like is that it does not start unless held in the correct poisition. The key is to hold the hand steady, not move, or talk. To hold the arm steady, rest the plam just below the opposite shoulder. Also, make sure that the wrist does not touch the chest to avoid getting erroneous reading.

It is, however, $30 more expensive than the ReliOn. Consider purchasing it if you are a traveller or have uncontrolled BP. It will allow you to track BP under various stress conditions (work) without being noticed.

It stores 99 readings with date and time making recoredkeeping easy. The lack of PC software is not an issue for me. I find manual recordkeeping is faster and quite adequate.

Customer Review: Easy to use 2 Stars

Omron HEM-637 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with Advanced Positioning Sensor
The doctor told me my blood pressure was high and to purchase a bp monitor. After reading several reviews, I decided on this model. It had good consumer reviews and it seemed very easy to use compared to the arm cuff monitors. After purchase, I took it to my doctor's office and the nurse did my pressure and it was high on their equipment and lower by 20 points on this monitor. The doctor came in about 20 minutes later and retook it and he had the same results to. He said that I needed to get a Large Cuff monitor because I would get a much more accurate reading and it I could better control my blood pressure and my chance of stroke.

So as cool and easy as this model is to use, my health is more important and I am returning this WRIST MODEL and ordering a Large Cuff monitor
