This is a good unit for monitoring blood pressure. Purchasers should know ahead that measuring blood pressure with a wrist style monitor is sensitive to arm position. The Intellisense system verifies your arm position before it takes a measurement, making it more consistent than units that do not. (Missing Feature) I lowered the rating to 3 stars because the unit is equipped with an interface port, which if you purchase the unit in Europe or Asia it also comes with software (missing in USA) and a cable (missing in USA) that allows you to download the data to your pc and share with the doctor. The OMRON HEM-637 is simlpe to use. It is full featured. This is my fourth OMRON HEM-637. I bought my first one in May of 2007. I have use a Sunbean Cuff blood presure meter for 17 years.
My doctor warned me against using a wrist unit. I compared readings for 6 months. The were very close.
I know you are thinking, this guy is NUTS, FOUR UNITS!
I am in advanced KIDNEY failure. My blood presure is LIFE OF DEATH FOR ME!
So I take my blood preasure 4 to 5 times a day. Rather then carry one around with me and risk damage, I keep one in four convient places,

My doctor asked me to purchase this particular monitor about 6 weeks ago because he was worried that I might be developing high blood pressure. I started checking my BP twice a day and found the cuff very easy to use. My BP did seem to fluctuate a lot so after a few weeks I decided to clean up my act and cut out a lot junk food (expecially sugar). Within a week I was amazed to see my BP had returned to a normal range. I am definitely obese, so this is a great discovery for me and has really led to a major change in my outlook. I used this monitor for the past 2 months and thought I was keeping my blood pressure under control, but when I compared it to my other monitor (an arm cuff and squeeze ball) and my doctor's monitor, I found the Omron was about 20 points too low! I then bought a Relion Hem-741Crel (recommended by Consumer Reports) and it seems accurate when checked against my my arm cuff and squeeze ball monitor. Maybe the Omron works for some people, but I would check it against a reliable monitor. It's a shame it's not accurate because it was convenient and easy to use.
