I got this unit for my mom for x-mas and am planning to return it. It is inaccurate. My mom measured her blood pressure twice daily since x-mas and it was fluctuating. Then a couple of days ago she checked her blood pressure several times in a row. Each time there were widely different readings. How is it possible? So it is unreliable unit for we can't tell which readings are accurate. Since it doesn't do what it is supposed to do I wasn't gonna give it any stars, but I gave one star because it's compact and easy to use. I bought this meter because the [A&D] one that I have had for 5 years is falling apart. I read the owner's manual last night, made all the settings, and was surprised at HOW EASY it is to use! Taking blood pressure can only be done [ONE] way. Unless you are in the prescribed position, it won't work. It maintains a history of previous readings and will display this information in GRAPH form. This is valuable for persons like me with hypertension! I gave it 4 stars because it takes AAA batteries instead of AA batteries and is made in CHINA.Customer Review: great product with one caveat

The unit is as easy to use as promised. I verified it's accuracy at my doctor's office using the usual cuff. She made one change in the directions for getting an accurate measurement. Rather than bending the arm up against myself to get the unit to heart level, she said prop my arm out before me, and up a little bit if necessary, to achieve heart level with out undue muscular compression of the arm and possibly affecting accurate measurement. Actually, it's been kind of fun to use like a kid getting a magnifying class or chemistry set!Customer Review: blood pressure monitor

Omron HEM-711AC Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with IntelliSenseOmron is a well-known name that is used in doctors' offices, I understand. The readings on this BP monitor are very accurate, and I highly recommend purchasing a monitor with the advanced intellisense feature. It is of great help in obtaining the correct reading. Several months ago, I was advised by my physician to take my BP twice a day. After doing some research, I purchased the Omron HEM 637 after researching the product in several places including Consumer Reports. I have found it to be very accurate when compared with readings that I have received at my doctor's office and by arm cuff readings taken by my wife, an RN with more than 20 years experience. For those who have difficulty following directions EXACTLY, this might not be for you. If you can, it's convenience is hard to beat.
