Customer Reviews of Omron HEM-637 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with Advanced Positioning SensorCustomer Review: Works like a charm Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I bought one of these almost 2 years ago after he had some health-related issues. It worked so well that when my 86 year old Father needed to replace his standard BP monitoring kit (inflatable cuff/stethoscope)we purchased this for him.
We have had both units checked by doctors - they are accurate.
The unit is extremely easy to use. I really like that it won't function unless it is level with your heart.
All in all - I would rate this product A+
Customer Review: Nice idea, but... Summary: 3 Stars
I agree that this monitor is inconsistent and gives erroneously low reads most of the time. If I were to go according to this, I could stop taking my Lisinopril! However, I took it to my last Dr appt and the nurse was kind enough to humor me taking my BP several times with the Omron and then with the arm cuff, each arm, waiting in between reads, etc. WAY big difference! I will contact the mfgr and see if there's something I'm missing. Or maybe it just doesn't work on overweight people.
Customer Review: Omron HEM-637 blood pressure monitor Summary: 5 Stars
After finding several professional reviews on the web with positive evaluations, I bought the monitor and am happy with it. The storage feature of 90 readings is very helpful for comparison of changes. It is very easy to use and also faster than a manual unit, which I have been using before. I believe that the position sensor is a positive feature, insuring that the monitor is at heart level, for accurate readings.
I would buy the same model again if there was need for it.
Customer Review: Poor reliablity and validity Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this unit and was dissatisfied with comparisons I made at the doctor's office. I next purchased an Omron arm unit and found the results to be more valid and reliable. The wrist unit is very cool, but did not live up to Consumer Reports suggestion that it had acceptable validity. I'm technically savvy, an excellent instructions follower, and really wanted to like this unit, but I cannot recommend it. Skip the cool wrist unit and get an arm unit if at all possible.
Customer Review: Very handy Summary: 4 Stars
I like it. Easy to use and has graphing capabilities. It would be nice if it came with an interface cable and software to download the measurements in the memory.
Also, I'd love to have a BPM device that can be used as a heart rate monitor. This one is small, on the wrist - just needs a little knob and some change in the soft/hard ware to make it extremely useful in aerobic exercise monitoring. But this is invading someones territory, isn't it?
