Customer Reviews of Omron HEM-650 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with APS (Advanced Positioning Sensor)

Customer Review: Omron HEM-650 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor
Summary: 5 Stars

Great product with consistent readings. I did turn the Advanced Positioning Sensor off though. The APS detects if your wrist is in the correct position but I found at times that I would have to have my wrist up in the middle of the air to get the alarm to shut off and I felt that was incorrect in order to correctly take your blood pressure. I found that at times it would take 4+ tries to get the alarm to shut off. I want to wrap the monitor around my wrist, set my wrist to a correct position that most who take thier blood pressure on a normal basis are aware of, turn the thing on and forget about it. Alarms? Forget it.
Other than the APS, I would recommend buying this monitor. Great price and all in a small package.

Customer Review: Functions but Inconvenient and Awkward
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased this to replace a worn out Omron Finger type unit. I am disappointed in how much trouble it is to use this device. The manual claims it only works on your left wrist, would have been nice to know that ahead of time. Also must hold left forearm within a certain angle accross your chest and the device must be at heart level or all it will do is beep. The finger unit was much easier to use. I took it to the doctors office and compared it twice to the readings the nurse got, there was roughly 5 to 7 difference in both readings, all in all I'm disappointed this isn't working as quickly and accurately as the finger unit did for me which compared closly with what the doctor got for readings.

Customer Review: Really Good Product
Summary: 4 Stars

As a nurse I look for products my patients can use that can test their Blood Pressure both accurately and easily. With this product it passes both tests and I believe this to be a very good tool to monitor health. The only thing I will mention and this is found will ALL automatic BP cuffs that I am familiar is that you will receive an error message if you have some types of irregular beats such a Atrial fib. For the average person with normal or high blood pressure this is a great tool to help monitor your health. The only reason I did not give this product 5 stars is that in my opinion an automatic cuff is not as accurate as a blood pressure taken by your physician or manually by a healthcare provider.

Customer Review: Accurate Blood Pressure
Summary: 5 Stars

I really wanted an accurate way to monitor my blood pressure no matter where I am. Although I was wary of using a wrist blood pressure monitor, I spoke with a few nurses and a doctor and decided to give the Omron HEM-650 (Omron HEM-650 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with APS (Advanced Positioning Sensor)) a try. This thing is sweet! It comes in a small travel case that I can easily fit in my brief case and as for accuracy, this thing is spot on! And I find once you get used to where your arm needs to be, I have no trouble getting a reading.

Buy this with confidence - you will not be dissapointed.

Customer Review: Be warned: Not for the elderly or people with arm weakness
Summary: 1 Stars

Let me start by saying that if you're an average healthy person this is a fairly decent BPM. It takes fast readings, is easy to put on and store, and has a memory of the readings taken including heart beats per minute. The big problem is that the advanced positioning sensor is very sensitive and requires your arm to remain completely still at 45 degrees in front of your chest for the entire reading. If you cannot find the correct position it will not take a reading at all. If it starts to take a reading and you slightly move out of the required angle it will give you an error message. Elderly folks, those with tremors, weak arm muscles, or people who are fidgety may not find much use in this machine.
