Customer Review: Readings are somewhat inconsistent

I recently bought this portable unit through Amazon. It arrived within 3 business days. I also have a Omron Automatic BP monitor, model HEM-712c. I have been comparing results between the two units and have noticed that the wrist BP monitor consistently read lower on the systolic and higher on the diastolic when compared to the HEM-712c results. The heart rate also runs higher. I always checked my blood pressure within 5 mins of my initial reading. I'm not sure if the difference is naturally due to location of the pressure point being measured. Would I recommend this unit? Probably not as a primary BP monitor. Collect more data so you can have a better idea how much bias the unit has when compared to more accurate monitors. You will have a better indicator of what your BP really is when using this unit.Customer Review: Excellent blood pressure monitor!

I purchased this monitor twice -- and highly recommend it. My blood pressure was in the 140s and 150s. By having an easy-to-use, portable way to check my blood pressure, I've been able to play with my diet, exercise, etc. and reduce it to readings that are consistently in the low 120s.
My parents had a larger, arm-cuff BP monitor which they were using until they used mine. They were so impressed with it that I ended up giving it to them. I immediately ordered a second unit. It comes with a small case and can be used anywhere. It is just as accurate as the large models but you don't have to bare your arm nor plug it into a wall.
The batteries last several months with four or five readings being taken a day. I can't recommend it enough -- this unit could save your life!

My husband was told by his doctor to monitor his BP as it seemed high at his last visit. I shopped around and found this monitor and read the reviews and was impressed. I also liked the information on how the drugstore BP monitors are inaccurate as you have been up walking, maybe smoking prior to testing and this has an effect on your reading.
The cuff squeezes a little tight but my husband doesn't seem to mind. It has a sensor to tell you if you have it positioned wrong which is a great help.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants convenience and quality at a good price.

The original version of this blood pressure monitor I have at my office for my patients and my own use. It seemed to work okay. So I got one for home. But that was about a year or more later. By then they had "improved" it. Which sometimes means that they over engineered it and complicated it and in this case, may have ruined it. So the one at home is very tempermental to use properly and I keep getting error messages if I don't hold my arm "just so" during the testing action. So overall I am not pleased with this later version, when the simpler version worked just fine at my office. Sometimes manufacturers just can't leave well enough alone. So they have to "improve it". I've been using Omron Wrist Blood Pressure Cuffs for years now. I like this one because they made it much smaller and sleeker. This is very handy to have around. I have to check my pressure a few times a day. This is very easy to operate. It also has an internal memory to keep I think the last 14 readings along with their dates and times. It's simple one hand operation, and it has an automated positioning system so it will work when your arm is at the correct level with your heart. You don't have to pump anything up. It's all automatic. You can also set it for right or left wrist use. Has a nice carrying case. You can also bring it to the doctor to show him or her your recent readings. You can just scroll through them. I got one for my parents, and they love it too.
