Customer Reviews of Omron HEM-670IT Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with APS (Advanced Positioning Sensor) and Advanced Omron Health Management SoftwareCustomer Review: LIFESAVER!!! Summary: 5 Stars
After very careful review of all types of blood pressure monitors this was THE one! I highly recommend the monitor!! My brother-in-law who has had very high blood pressure for the past few years was visiting when we received this monitor. His first "uneducated" comment when he saw the box was "oh throw that away......those wrist monitors are no good". As mentioned I had done extensive research on the various types and felt confident this was a high quality monitor. My husband started taking his BP and discovered it was very high. He became very skeptical and said his brother was probably right. I have normally very low BP so I took mine and it was most accurate. We have only had the monitor about two weeks. I made my husband get a medical appt. with the family doctor. Well to our shock...the day of his appt. the doctor sent him directly to the hospital. This was just last week. My husband had numerous heart/bloodflow/etc. testing done at the hospital and it was determined he has Stage II hypertension. This monitor was a blessing and a lifesaver! This monitor has it ALL and I haven't even had a chance to load the software to do the tracking which can also be provided to the physician. Words cannot express my gratitude for the quality of this monitor and for saving my husband from eminent danger!
Customer Review: Easy to use - Accurate Summary: 5 Stars
I read a lot of reviews before buying the Omron HEM-670IT Ultra Premium Wrist Monitor. Many were confusing and offered a variety of ratings. The unit replaced a ten year old wrist Omron that had given up the ghost.
I took a chance on this unit and have been more than pleased. I have taken it to and compared it to my doctor's office unit on several visits. The reading has always been within a point or two compared to their professional cuff. That's pretty accurate. Downloading the info to the computer and taking the printout to the doctor is a big bonus. It can be reported weekly, monthly or yearly with nice easy to read charts.
This unit probably saved my life. Several weeks ago I had a normal BP reading in the morning, but the pulse read above 100. I didn't feel ill or any different than usual. I thought the machine had goofed. By noon, my BP was still acceptable, but my pulse had reached 140 and I was dizzy and began sweating profusely. By the time I got to the ER my pulse was over 180 and my BP had risen sharply. A three day stay in the hospital brought everything back to normal. As a result, my meds have changed drastically. (This was my third heart attack. The other two I felt coming.)
I would recommend this BP unit to anyone with my blessing!
Customer Review: Inconsistent accuracy Summary: 2 Stars
This unit has many good features, as noted by the other reviewers. The key question, however, is "how accurate is it?" After all, what good is a blood pressure monitor if it isn't accurate? So I compared it with my Omron HEM-790IT and found that sometimes it agreed and sometimes it was way off. I also compared it with my Omron HEM-780. Blood pressure can vary quite a bit between measurements, so I made comparisons over many measurements. The HEM-790IT and the HEM-780 measurements (both with arm cuffs) were consistently close to each other, while the wrist monitor measurements varied widely. Since the standard measurement technique used by doctors uses an arm cuff, it makes sense to also use an arm cuff for home measurements for consistency.
The computer software is great. The HEM-790IT uses the same software. I recommend the HEM-790IT for better accuracy and for use with the software. I use the TruRead Mode, which takes three consecutive readings. The Omron engineers didn't include this feature for no reason. Repeating the measurement, even with nothing changed between readings, can still vary by up to 10 points. That seems to be the nature of the measurement technique. (I even tried meditating between successive readings, but it didn't seem to help the variations.)
Customer Review: Easy to Use Summary: 5 Stars
My Omron HEM-670T wrist blood pressure monitor is easy to use. I tested it against another high quality wrist blood pressure monitor and an arm BP monitor and the readings of the Omron were very close to the readings of the other two units. I previously tested the arm
BP monitor against my doctor's machine and my arm unit was within a few points of the professional machine.
A useful feature of the Omron HEM-670T is its ability to hook up to my laptop and provide a chart of my readings. No need to manually
write each reading because my handy Omron does it for me. My doctor can scan my chart and get a quick view of my BP readings.
I've used my Omron daily since I purchased it. So far, it has been reliable. Because the unit will only take a reading if the unit
is properly aligned with my heart, I know the readings are accurate.
Overall, I believe the Omron HEM-670T is a lot of value for the money. It has the look and feel of highly quality despite its
Chinese origin. Omron HEM-670IT Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with APS (Advanced Positioning Sensor) and Advanced Omron Health Management Software
Customer Review: Dangerously Inaccurate Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased the Omron HEM-670IT three months ago and used it to record my blood pressure three different times each day in that time. The unit consistently returned dangerously inaccurate readings that ranged, both in systolic and diastolic, anywhere from 20 to 38 points LOWER than they actually were.
On the basis of the print-outs that the Omron HEM-670IT provided via the computer software that comes with the unit, my doctor CUT my prescribed medication in HALF because the Omron was returning low double-digit readings, both systolically and diastolically.
After my last visit to the cardiologist, I began using an Omron HEM-780 that had been measured against units used by two different cardiologists. In these cases, the readings of the Omron HEM-780 were almost identical to the doctors' equipment. I have stopped using the Omron HEM-670IT and will now use it as a paperweight only.
The Omron HEM-670IT is convenient to use, sturdy, and attractive. However, it does not perform accurately -- not even close!
I strongly recommend that potential customers look elsewhere in the Omron line of quality BP instruments. This one is worthless -- and is potentially hazardous to your health.
