I am very pleased with this blood pressure monitor -- not so pleased with my own blood pressure. After receiving the bad news from my doctor that my blood pressure is elevated, I researched monitors and, after reading the review at Consumer Reports, decided to purchase this particular unit. Now that I've used it, I really like it. If i take multiple readings in a short period of time, they are very consistent.
The unit very easy to use and the manual is well written -- it reads like native English and not something translated by a second year English student armed with a Chinese-English dictionary.
The unit is very well constructed -- nice and solid and well designed. The user interface is excellent. I also like the fact that I can operate the unit with batteries and not bother with the AC adapter that is also included.

I purchased this product after being diagnosed with hypertension after hvaing severe headaches. My Dr. suggested I keep track of my BP for him to he could adjust my medicine. This saved me trips to the pharmacy several times a day. Well,just for info - I immediately quit smoking (40 yr smoker), started walking 15 mins then 30 mins a day, avoided as much salt as possible and now I'm working on getting off Micardis in less than 3 months with a lifestyle change. Getting back to the BP machine, I was able to measure my BP anytime of the day, and I usually took 6-8 readings a day and then averaged them out. Last week my Dr. said that I could half my pills for two weeks and if BP is still within normal limits then I could stop the meds. This is a good product, but if you have high BP, try to change your lifestyle as quickly as possible!Customer Review: This BP Instrument is the Gold Standard

I did some research and settled on purchasing this Omron HEM-711AC Blood Pressure Monitoring Device. It is a high quality well designed machine. My expectations were met or exceeded. It works well on four AA batteries when not connected to an electrical suppy.
I have recently taken the monitor to my physician to cross check their readings with mine. There was a considerable varition today. I am switching to a large cuff to see if that reduces the variation. However, having said that, I noticed that health care providers rarely "correctly"
take BP readings. As am example, there are guidlines to suspend one's arm
at heart level, they simply don't do it. Remember folks, they are ordering medication based on these readings! Accuracy is very important.
For now... I tend to believe the Omron numbers.

This is the best blood pressure monitor I have ever used. I took it to my doctor's office to check it against theirs, and even they were impressed. It makes the process of taking your blood pressure a breeze. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that needs to check their blood pressure regularly.
As to the Amazon ordering process, once again it was simple. I ordered and they shipped before the expected ship date. They kept me informed of my order during the whole process. I order a lot of items through Amazon every year and their prices are great and the service is outstanding.I will continue to use Amazon as they have always performed well for me. Their business model stresses customer service and it shows!

Customer Review: Easy to use, not accurate for me.

This product came highly recommended from a friend who used it and had accurate results when checked against the readings in a doctor's office. Not so for me. The systolic readings were 20-30 points high, even after careful reading the instructions, going over it with tech support a couple of times, and crosschecking a few times. The other readings were reasonable, dystolic were 5-6 pts high, and pulse rate maybe 3-5 beats/minute high vs the doctors office readings at the same time. I returned one unit and got another one. Same story, very high against dr measurements. Returned the 2nd one. Too bad it is so inaccurate for me. It is a easy to use unit, good instructions, helpful tech support, and good ergonomics. It also measured 20pts high against the drug store meter, but I didn't trust that as much.
