Customer Reviews of Omron HEM-711AC Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with Standard CuffCustomer Review: Omron HEM-711AC not accurate Summary: 1 Stars
We purchased the Omron HEM-711AC based upon recommendation from a leading consumer magazine. The price from Amazon was very attractive. The items itself was very easy to use. However, my wife felt the cuff was uncomfortable at full inflation. Worse, we could not believe the numbers. After several tries over about 5 days, it always measured high for her; higher than any number she ever got at a doctor's office or drug store BP monitor. And I got numbers lower for my BP than I am used to seeing. So we had not faith in the accuracy of the numbers, and upon her Dr's guidance, returned the unit. Not sure what we will do as my Dr. recommended the Omron brand as well.
Customer Review: It's all maintenance from now on Summary: 5 Stars
I have "You, The Owner's Manual" (see my review). I hear what great shape the president is in (we are the same age, but not the same shape). I'm borderline with everything. I wanted an easy to use BP monitor so I could track my blood pressure over time and see if I could improve with exercise and diet. This is a nice, easy to use unit and was rated highly by a consumer magazine (even as a regular person, I'm afraid to say it's name). It keeps track of several readings so you can get an average BP when you visit the doctor. These readings change all the time, so this is essential.
Don't count on that president to protect your health, take charge yourself.
Customer Review: Health monitor Summary: 5 Stars
My doctor told me that I should keep a check on my blood pressure. The suggestion was to go to the pharmacy and use their machine once in while for a few months. I decided to purchase my own Omron monitor. It is very convenient being able to do it at a specific time each day. I found it easy to use and I liked the fact that it kept track of 60 readings and also produced an average.
I hope that with this device I will be able to be sure that if I need medication at some point I will not let time go by without proper treatment. High blood pressure is called the silent killer because there are no symptoms until it is usually much too late.
Customer Review: Easy to use and accurate Summary: 5 Stars
I have a history of hypertension and I found recently that my blood pressure had risen again in spite of a better diet and weight loss. I decided to buy this monitor to check the effect of other changes to my diet on my blood pressure in between doctor visits. This monitor was very easy to use and accurate. I make a check of my blood pressure daily and am very satisfied with the results. The unit itself arrived quickly and with no problems. The only thing I would recommend is for the user to measure his or her own bicep. If it's between 13 and 16 inches, you may need to order the Large Adult Arm Cuff. (The Standard cuff is the one included.)
Customer Review: Most Consistently Accurate Tester I've Found Summary: 5 Stars
I also did come across an National Institutes of Health laboratory review [...]which concludes that the Omron models 705cp and 711 are "suitable for clinical use". Also, that most companies use different algorithms in their computations. This means that many, if not most, other models vary immensely in their readings. Wrist units are less accurate than upper arm units. I have so far found nothing qualifying any wrist unit for clinical use. For 50 bucks at Walmart, I'd be perfectly happy if anything this consistently accurate, this cheap, lasted 6 months of everyday use, let alone a year. On the bright side, at least I know I'll outlive it :-p
