Customer Reviews of Omron HEM-712C Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with IntelliSenseCustomer Review: Blood Pressure Monitor Summary: 5 Stars
I owned the Omron 711 (sister monitor to the one in this review) a while ago and it was powered from an A/C adapter. I purchased the 712 cuz it was less expensive--by half. Hey, the Omron design worked well, why pay twice the price--an Omron is an Omron. Upon delivery,I was surprised to discover the 712 was totally dependent on using AA batteries. I almost sent it back for a trade, but decided to try it out.
The Amazon web site did not highlight the battery power dependence. Yup, in the comparison at the bottom of the web page, it shows AA power only, but I was determined to buy an Omron because of the positive rating of Consumer Report and did not read Amazon's fine print detail.
Read the "Product Features" section on Amazon's web site (where this feature should be noted) and there is nay a word about battery dependence. This is flat out poor item description writing.
The portability of battery power is more convenient for sure. Glad I did keep it; I have used it a lot of times and it is still chugging away on the 2x AA batteries.
I have compared my portable home monitor versus my doctor's office BP monitor and they are very close in readings.
Pros of convenience and accuracy and no con yet.
Customer Review: Omron BP Monitor Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this monitor to replace another one that was giving erronous BP readings.
The apparatus is small and easy to use.Cuff is the correct size for my wife who essentially needs the monitor. The compact design is very practical and easy to manipulate. Contrary to other reviewer meter performance is very quiet.
I read some reviewers comments of the great accuracy of this device, but so far I have my reservations. This is the reason:As of now, my blood pressure has been for years in the range of 116/65/70 to 120/70/72. This I have verified in doctor's office; however in performing the test of my BP as a way to ensure meter accuracy for wife use, the readings have been in the range of 127/72 to 128/74 for a few times. For these tests I have followed all instructions of instrument manual. To verify these readings I went to hospital to check my BP. Doctor's office readings have been in the range of 114/69 to 120/70. So my point is: Does this BP monitor have the accuracy they publish so much or do I still don't know how to properly handle the meter?
Time will tell us!
Customer Review: Close enough to accurate I'm happy. Summary: 5 Stars
I have tried other products and this one was close to the reading my doctor got. If you buy this one or another take it to your Doctor and ask if the Nurse can check to see if its within tolerance. I had one that was lower then the Doctor's office by 12 on the top number and about 7 on the lower. This one is right around the rage as you will not find one that gives the same as the Doctor's office. Some people say the Doctor's is wrong, well I doubt that since theres are about the most accurate and standard...and by theres I mean the cuff they pump up and listen with the ear things they use. The display is clear and easy to read and it shows the date and then switches to time so you know exactly when you took it. Read the instructions so you clearly understand it. Also tells you of irreguar heart beat. Anyway I like it so hope this helps.
Down side is no cuff holder and only remembers for one person but thats ok since I new that when I bought it. Anyway Omron makes good stuff and I have there scales and there with in 1/2 pound at Doctor's office so I'm sticking with Omron
Customer Review: Confused customer Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this monitor to replace a wrist blood pressure monitor that I think gives falsely low readings. It gives readings significantly higher than wrist monitor but generally in line with other readings taken on machines in Walmart and at the YMCA.
On a recent trip to doctor's office the nurse read 128/76; the doctor took a reading himself of 140/80; an electronic monitor in doctor's office read 168/77; and my wrist monitor read 130/71. This Omron monitor read 154/80 which did not closely agree with the systolic pressure that both nurse and doctor measured. It is the difference between having high blood pressure needing medication and being OK. All readings were taken very close together. I question its accuracy to some extent, and now I question the whole idea that blood pressure can be read with much precision by any method.
My final conclusion is that blood pressure varies greatly at different times of the day and depending on exactly how it is taken. About the most I can hope for is general idea that it is either high or about right.
Customer Review: great device Summary: 5 Stars
I was ordered to get a home monitoring device by my doctor. Every time I go they say I have high blood pressure. I never get high readings when I go to those machines at the stores or have a cute fireman take it. Anyway, I got this machine because I did not want to spend too much money on one of these and Amazon had some good prices, plus I had coupons for the site. So I got this pretty inexpensively. But I think this product is great for its price and I don't have any problem with it. It is easy to use, easy to read, easy to manage. I think it's great. I also found out that I don't have high blood pressure, but rather just suffer from white coat syndrome That is where your blood pressure is up cause you are nervous at the doctor's office. I don't think I get nervous. I think my blood pressure goes up because when I am there, I have to wait 40 minutes to an hour to be called back to see the doctor. I hate someone wasting my time. Then the first thing they do is put you on a scale to weigh you. Am I supposed to be relaxed when you just told me I am overweight???
