Customer Reviews of Omron HEM-773AC Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with Easy-Wrap Cuff and IntelliSenseCustomer Review: BP For 2 Summary: 5 Stars
The Omron HEM-773AC Blood Pressure Monitor is one we have owned for well over a year and have been satisfied with. In that time the readings for both my husband and myself have been most consistant. While most home units may not be as accurate as the doctor's, this Omron comes as close as any. This monitor will give you a basic normal reading to use as the standard for your blood pressure readings at home. You should take your unit to your physician's office to be calibrated for accuracy. You will have then have a good base level from which to determine what, if any, adjusment needs to be made to the reading of your particular monitor.
There have been times when I've had to have my blood pressure checked and rechecked within minutes at doctor's offices. In doing so, they found a significant difference in their readings. The reason: Unknown. I don't know why. They don't know why. I do know having a headache will affect my BP but such was not the case in these readings. So I'm not frustrated if my unit does the same every once in a blue moon.
The fact that the Omron HEM-773AC records readings for the two of us was an added incentive in our purchase, a purchase we would gladly make again. ~ Mrs. B. (The Boss agrees!)
Customer Review: Not accurate! Summary: 1 Stars
The Omron HEM-773 was recommended to me by a co-worker who was very pleased with the instrument. Since we both work in a hospital and have a good working knowledge in the area, I thought that this would be a slam dunk purchase.
I could not have been more wrong.
The reading varies from 10 to 15 units off from manual readings from 3 different well trained nurses. The unit is very easy to use and good features for the money but if I don't have confidence in the reading, what good is it. I rarely get it out and when I do, it just makes my literal "blood pressure" go up by it's misreading.
I would think that a instrument such as this would have a calibratiion mechanism.
In all fairness my co-worker loves hers but I bought mine here and am not happy.
Customer Review: Easy to use, excellent features, but not real accurate Summary: 3 Stars
I found the Omron HEM-773AC automatic blood pressure monitor easy to use and a good indicator of blood pressure trends. I compared readings taken at the doctor's office and found my readings to be some what higher. I found the lack of repeatability to be an issue when taking several readings back to back. The accuracy may be lacking, but it served well as a general indicator of blood pressure trends. I like the easy wrap cuff when taking readings. The numbers in the readout are large and easy to read. The memory feature allows the user to store up to 20 readings including the date and time for two people. The ability to plug it in a wall outlet or use batteries is a real plus. Overall I feel this monitor is a good buy considering price, accuracy, and customer friendly features.
Customer Review: Accurate and easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this product after doing extensive research on the best, easiest to use blood pressure monitor. We were not sorry. It is a great product that really works well. We were replacing a unit that was nearly 30 years old. We're pleased with this purchase and would buy it again. The cuff stores inside the unit, something we lacked in our old unit. Now we can put the cuff away when we're done and the unit does not take up much space to store. There is a two person A & B memory so two people can store several prior readings to compare with a new one. The only thing I don't like is that you have to page back page by page to look at the previous readings, you can't go back and forth. But that is a small qualm with an otherwise accurate unit and good quality product.
Customer Review: good unit; wall wart generates lots of elf/emf Summary: 3 Stars
This is a very good blood pressure unit, easy to use, comfortable. It never over inflates - other units occasionally decide to use a second reinflation cycle, which way over inflates and hurts.
The only complaint that I have with it is that the wall wart it comes with generates a huge amount of elf/emf (whether the unit is in use or not). So, I'd suggest keeping the wall wart (not necessarily the bp unit itself) at least 4 to 5 feet, maybe more, away from your head while sleeping. I have measured the wall wart that comes with the hem 780 to generate much less elf/emf. Unfortuneatly the 780 does occasionally overinflate, which I hate. Also, the 773 uses a separate on and off button from start, and the 780 uses only one button, a bit less user friendly.
