I've been using the Omron HEM 773AC for five months and am somewhat disappointed in that the readings, based on what my doctor's office finds, are not accurate. It reads considerably lower than my actual B/P. I can get an more accurate reading by carefully watching the monitor for the "heart beat" indicator to appear after the cuff cuts off flow. But the meter always reads much lower... for example when I observe the "hear beat" return at 130 the meter will read 100 to 110.
The lower pressure I have no way of determining but I suspect
it is always a little low, maybe by ten numbers. On the positive side the unit is easy to use and I am getting an idea
of what raises my B/P.
I think three stars is more than fair for this machine.

Overall this product is just OK. I got a great deal on it (on sale, plus a $10 instant rebate, and I had gift certificates).
What I don't like about it is that #1: I feel like it's not accurate. I've been borderline HBP for a couple of years and now this machine gives me perfect readings. (119/79, 120/80, 117/78 to name a few) and #2: I often need a 2nd person to help me put the cuff on, otherwise it doesn't get as tight a fit. My dad has an older model where the cuff wraps around and slides through a metal loop so you can get a bit of leverage when you're putting it on with your other hand. This cuff is a little more awkward.
I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it, let's just say that.

I have been using this monitor for my mother's high blood pressure (and mine too) for the past few years. It is a great indicator of pressure although I agree that the cuff is, at first, different to use. My Mom's arm is small but it still takes readings similar to my nonelectric and what we get at the doctor's office. Remember, though, you should wait at least 3 minutes between readings - taking it sooner will result in false readings as you have collasped the artery and need to wait for it to recover before taking it again - also, don't cross your legs and don't hold your breath. The memory feature is also great and once you figure out how to put the cuff away, it is compact and easily travels. Recommend!Customer Review: Medical grade - a must have for every home!

I had been on the lookout for a blood pressure monitor for some time now - I used to own a portable and somewhat gimmicky machine whose readings were all over the place. I bought the HEM-773AC after I saw it used at my doctor's office and also in the hospital.
Very easy to use, consistent and accurate readings. I have compared the measurements from this unit with and old-fashioned manual mercury sphygmomanometer read by my father (a doctor). Readings were identical. That level of accuracy and the ease of use are all I care about.
Highly recommended, and a must have in every household.

I ordered the Omron Auto blood pressure monitor and just a few days after we got it my husband woke up and said his chest was hurting. I ask if it was bad or what he thought it might be. He said he thought he may be getting sick or something. I told him well since we are up let me take your blood pressure. It was 199 over 109! Once I got him to the ER he had a 2nd heart attack. Had it not been for the Omron I don't know what may have happened! I love how easy it is to use, and it stores the readings for two people. Best purchase I ever made.
