Customer Reviews of Omron HEM-780 Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with ComFit CuffCustomer Review: Omron HEM-780N2 Product Review Summary: 5 Stars
This product rates a full five stars. It is exactly as sdvertised and is a breeze to use. The Comfit Cuff makes the procedure effortless and provides for very repeatable measurements each time.
The unit records the most recent 90 measurements and averages the last 3 which is very useful for accurate trend monitoring.
The unit is virtually foolproof with mostly one button operation, and if there is a problem with a test the unit tells you what it is (via simple code on the large display) so you can make an adjustment and immediately retest.
When I got the unit I took it on my next Doctor appt to compare it with his. (My Doctor used the Omron that has a printer and a standard cuff) We did a side by side test and even my Dr. was impressed with the accuracy. He stated that he had been using the Omron w/ printer in his practice since it first became available with no problems whatsoever, and was impressed with the apparent improvements in my unit.
The Omron HEM-780 is a first rate product all the way around. I highly recomment it to anyone in need of a professional grade blood pressure monitor at a very reasonable price.
Customer Review: Works great, not sure about accuracy Summary: 4 Stars
This unit works well and is fairly easy to use.
I don't know how accurate it is. I had an older unit I bought at a drugstore. I compared them side by side. The Omron was somewhat less variable.
I suspect that blood pressure varies quite a bit for most people and the monitor is just reading what it is. I tried just walking into the other room and back the the reading went up about 5 points. I walked up and down a flight of stairs and the reading went up about 10-12 points. I started snacking (not a large meal, just some snacks) and the readings jumped 20-25 points.
My guess is this is fairly accurate. It does have the "TruRead" averaging function. It takes three readings at regular intervals and averages them. The intervals are settable (15, 30, 60, or 120 seconds, default is 60). I tried taking alternate single readings and TruRead readings. The TruRead seem to be a decent average of the readings. It does take a little longer to get the reading, but the unit does all the work. You just sit there.
Overall, a pretty nice unit.
I should probably give it 5 stars, but I am not sure about the accuracy.
Customer Review: OMRON HEM-780 Summary: 2 Stars
5-STARS...
UPDATE: I found a place on the OMRON webpage to send a message. A Customer Service Representative responded within 24 hours. The Service Rep. asked me to explain what was happening on position "A" when I attempted to do a reading.
Once I responded with the info., the representative was able to explain to me what to do. My unit is now working 100%, and no extra charges to get it fixed!
I now give my Omron HEM-780 unit and the prompt help from Customer Service 5-STARS!
The OMRON HEM-780 unit I purchased from Amazon.com for myself & wife on December 4, 2009 is supposed to work for two persons to keep a record of their readings. This unit has not worked on position "A" from the start. Amazon.com states that I need to return the OMRON faulty product to the OMRON COMPANY, not back to Amazon.com.
The OMRON company wants me to pay postage when sending their faulty unit back to them, and then insert a check for return postage to me. Does not seem fair to have to pay more for a unit that needs fixing, (above the amount already paid to purchase the product)
Customer Review: Terrific! Summary: 5 Stars
The Omron-HEM-780 will give you a very accurate picture of the performance of your heart- your blood pressure and any heart irregularities you may have such as an erratic heartbeat will be displayed. The unit is programmable on a day to day basis and the memory stores some 86 measurements. If your pressure is too high to be acceptable, the display will tell you. In fact, the unit practically gets up and sings the Hallelujah Chorus when your pressure's just fine.If more than one person in your family uses the machine, a guest input is allowed- you just have to remember if you are "A" or "B".
The automatic "blow up" of the cuff is comfortable and quick and sure beats squeezing that little bulb. In fact I find taking my pressure quite enjoyable, but then I haven't any heart problems. However, even though a display of an erratic heartbeat or high pressure might be unnerving, it's vital to know so that you can go quickly to your doctor. The machine could be the writing on the wall...
The price is incredibly reasonable.I can't think of one negative thing to say about the Omron-HEM-780. Five stars, hands down!
Customer Review: An excellent BP monitor Summary: 4 Stars
After using this monitor for about a month, I would say it's everything I need and performs quite well. It appears to be reasonably accurate (compared to recent readings by my doctor), though, I have not verified this with a direct on-site comparison in my doctor's office. After a BP medication adjustment, I needed to report out two weeks worth of readings to my doctor so the memory function really came in handy. Even though Omron sells a pricier unit with the software and cable that transfers readings directly to a computer, I ended up transcribing the readings manually to a spreadsheet, which was not a big deal. I appreciate how the cuff is clearly marked for proper placement on the arm which takes some of the guesswork out of the process. If I had one complaint, however, I would say the cuff does not fit my arm as well as it could. Upon inflation, it just happens to hit a bone in my elbow that causes some discomfort, but, since most reviewers seem to find the cuff quite comfortable, I just may need to play with its positioning a bit more. In summary, this is an excellent BP monitor and worth your consideration.
