Customer Reviews of Omron HJ-150 Hip PedometerCustomer Review: Inspiring tool! Summary: 5 Stars
I began wearing my pedometer as a challenge that St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN gave to staff and faculty - six weeks of competition to see who could have the most steps and challenged us all to walk the distance as if it would be between Northfield, MN to Florida. The longer I wore the pedometer the more exciting it became to see if I could outdo the day before. The program is completed, but now I wear it every day as part of my wardrobe ("can't leave home without it") and it's a constant reminder for me to stay active and I feel so much healthier - an added benefit! Terrific product - I especially like that it tracks seven days worth of history.
Customer Review: If it's defective... Summary: 2 Stars
...don't expect Omron to act respectably. Mine stopped counting steps after three weeks of use. To get a replacement, you must call for a return authorization and address (this info is not in the manual), and then you learn that they demand $5 for 'shipping and handling' this 1 ounce item, which is on top of your cost to return it. At least in my case they first try to induce you to buy a new battery, telling you that it only comes with a 'trial battery,' although the manual again says no such thing and this web page says the battery should last a year. All in all, this company is sleazy, so you'd better hope that your item doesn't fail.
Customer Review: smart,no nonsense product Summary: 4 Stars
Calorie counter ? No need.
Miles/Kilometers converter ? No need.
You want your 10,000 steps per day ? This one will help you achieve the goal. Big numbers, good sensitivity, unobtrusive, it works, it works well , it is here to stay.
I like the midnight reset function, very useful. And the memory of the previous days is a great motivator.
This is my third unit. I lost the first...it does slip off your belt from time to time. I gave the second to someone I liked. It makes for a great present too.
Only problem : triggers the detectors in airports and makes those guys very suspiscious.
Customer Review: Omron HJ-150 Pedometer Summary: 5 Stars
I bought three of these for my kids after attending a brain health seminar. It has motivated them to be more active. In the first week I could not get them to stop moving until they had 10,000 steps recorded. I purchased the safety cord with them and would highly recommend spending the $1.25 as insurance. So far, they have been reliable, accurate, well built, and a good value. If you want a slightly better model with more features, go with the Omron 112 which I bought for myself. Although it is slightly larger, you save the $1.25 because it comes with a safety cord and is an even better value for the difference of $6.
Customer Review: Pedometer yes, clip no. Summary: 4 Stars
I was so excited to finally find an efficient, easy to use pedometer! I appreciated how it tracked for 7 days, was completely quiet, no clicking, and even kept track of my steps when I was using machines for other aerobic activity, which it is not guaranteed to do. But then I got home one day and it had fallen off of my belt! I was so upset it was gone. I definitely want to buy another one to replace it, but I will have to buy a safety clip to go along with it I guess. So I took a star away for the clip that didn't come through for me. But the pedometer part gets an excellent review.
