Customer Review: Heavy, but works great

My wife was looking for a stethoscope so she could monitor our toddler's breathing to make sure his chest congestion was getting better. After reading many reviews she settled on a stethoscope that cost almost $100. I of course settled on this one because it had great reviews and was insanely cheap. The cheap price put her off, but I suggested we try it anyway, if we didn't like it then we could return it, or worst case scenario we would be out $12.
I'm not a doctor or a nurse, and don't have any medical training at all.
Cons:
Heavy
Uncomfortable if you wear it for extended periods of time because it's heavy.
Pro:
Works perfectly I can hear my pulse at the bend in my arm and my wrist.
I can hear my toddlers lungs when he breaths loud and clear, even when they are perfectly healthy.
This is the perfect stethoscope for a concerned parent to use at home, who will only use it every once in a while. It works as good as any stethoscope and is super cheap. You would be hard pressed to find a stethoscope under $100 that performed better. If you foresee using this daily or even couple of times a week I would suggest looking for something lighter and more comfortable.

I'm no expert, but I am a curious nerd, so I thought it might be interesting to hear what's going on inside my chest. The sound is reasonably loud and clear enough to hear Korotkoff sounds or distinguish between the different valves of the heart (amazing what you can learn online!) From what I've read from professionals' review of this stethoscope, it compares very well to the far more expensive models (Cardiology III), but again, I'm no expert so I cant attest to this. You can get noise artifacts from the two tubes rubbing together but I haven't really run into this much.
So if you're a curious person and just want to hear what's going on inside you, the Omron Sprague Rappaport works very well. And if you're a medical expert and recently had a stethoscope go missing at work or someone "borrowed" it and you mysteriously never saw them again, this is very likely a good cheap quick buy to get you back out there saving lives or spying on your neighbors.
Note: I don't condone spying on your neighbors. Unless of course you have a good excuse like they keep stealing your newspaper or you're bored.

I received this product on time and it worked perfectly. It does however seem like there is a tangle in the thingy but it is from where it was inside of the package. As far as hearing is concerned...its ok...if everything is quite a faint heart beat can be heard. But, my son was screaming from the top of his lungs and I could hear just fine. I do recommend this product for people that are just starting out or for someone that is looking for something less expensive for a class or something like that. I am very impressed with this stethoscope. I'm in nursing school and purchased another stethoscope at the beginning of school for around $25 (no-name brand) and this Omron Sprague stethoscope at half the price is waaaay better. When you auscultate the lungs and/or heart, you can hear very loudly and clearly. It even outperforms some of the lower-end Littmanns. I love this stethoscope. This is the IDEAL buy for anyone wanting a good, functional, and affordable stethoscope. I would definitely purchase this stethoscope again.Customer Review: Very happy

I purchased this to locate a noise in my personal computer to repair. It worked perfectly. I found that If I left it in my ears for an extended period of time it became uncomforable. I don't know anyone that is going to walk around with it in their ears anyway.
My wife is a nurse practioner and she tested it on me and was impressed too. I made sure she knew this one was mine. ha.
I also reviewed other reviews on Amazon prior to purchase. I think I made a good decision with this purchase.
