Our daughter was still sucking her thumb at 3 1/2. I had heard that it was important to get them to stop before the age of 4 to protect the alignment of their teeth. We had been trying for some time to stop the habit but nothing worked. Someone at our church said they had used this with success with their son. So we bought it.
It worked! We called it her jewelry. She didn't know any different. We let her pick the color of wrist band she got to wear for the day. After the allotted time, we took it off and she did not suck her thumb. She had one relapse after a week or so and we put it back on her for a couple more weeks and it never happened again. She never complained about it at all.
It is imperative that you take it off and clean it with soapy water or it will start to smell. It is also important to buy the right size so there is some air movement. I measured her finger and got advise from others that bought it and luckily we did get the right size.
