Customer Reviews of One a Day women's multi vitamin 250 tabletsCustomer Review: Makes you sick Summary: 3 Stars
I trust that these are doing their job (haven't been taking them long enough to see a difference), but I had to comment on one thing. While I like the coating that the vitamins have, something about these pills made me SICK, SICK, SICK, to my stomach--and I do not have a weak stomach (I can eat any food at any time of day, and can even drink milk before jogging ha).
Yes, the instructions say "with food" in really tiny letters if you look closely, but it should be more like a GIGANTIC warning sign because they are not kidding! I took one of these right before breakfast, and in about 10 minutes (the amount of time it took me to walk from my dorm to the cafeteria and get my food), I was sick with the worst feeling I have had in ages, and ended up running for the bathroom like some scene from a movie. Fortunately, a male friend of mine confirmed that the same thing had happened to him before, so it may not be this particular brand of vitamin.
If you are on a diet or tend to eat many small meals throughout the day instead of 2 or 3 big ones, this may not be for you. Even when I do take it with food, I apparently don't take enough food because I will still get a small sick feeling for a little while, if I haven't eaten a gargantuan meal (although thank goodness I have not repeated the major throw-up episode of before). I am going to try to cut the pills in half and take throughout the day to see if that helps.
Customer Review: BEWARE! Avoid if you have High BP! Summary: 1 Stars
I've always been one for taking a multivitamin, because lets face it, I don't eat as well as I should all the time. I also take a few other vitamins besides a multi, like extra vitamin C and CO-Q10. I also take Metoprolol b/c of high blood pressure. Now, I have never had a problem with any multivitamin before, but I took this vitamin about five hours ago after a not very large dinner and have spent the last four hours sick as a dog with a heart rate that almost made me call 911 and that was after taking my blood pressure pill. I am sick to my stomach, having diarrhea, and am urinating excessively - hopefully that will flush it out faster than usual. But the biggest factor is that my heart is racing, it was so bad at first that I took a damn aspirin b/c I thought I was having a heart attack. After finally being able to get my heart rate under control, I looked up this new vitamin b/c it was the only thing that I have done differently today and I see that this has made other people just as sick as I am.
I felt absolutely fine before I took this and now I feel awful, and I was terrified that I really was going to have a heart attack tonight. I will never take this vitamin again and I warn everyone out there who takes vitamins not to take this one, especially if you have the high blood pressure like me.
Customer Review: Good Vitamin Summary: 5 Stars
I've been taking multi-vitamins religiously for a few years now. I switched to this brand since it's one of the brands that was tested by the FDA for lead levels and also was involved in the Consumer Lab tests. My other brand wasn't and I would prefer to know what I am actually consuming.
Only thing I take in addition to this is 250mg magnesium since I get horrendous debilitating menstrual cramps and that is supposed to help (although I don't know if it actually is). That puts my total magnesium at 300, which the upper limit is 350 so I'm still safe. Just something to think about if you have problems with cramps. The description mentions how this vitamin can help with reproductive health so just thought I would throw that tidbit in there.
I don't know what the supposed stomach issues are about in the other reviews, I take this with dinner and have no problems. I've never had a problem with any multivitamin as long as I took it with food. Size is not bad, I just take it with a big gulp of water and try not to think of it as a big vitamin but as a bunch of food I just chewed up.
Overall I feel fine and I have no major issues with this vitamin, so five stars!
Customer Review: Sick for Months Summary: 1 Stars
Ten months ago I switched from my nature's promise prenatal vitamin to one-a-day women's multivitamin without thinking twice about it. I switched because Costco no longer carried the other type of vitamin. For months, I kept having major nausea/vomiting issues after breakfast. I even ended up at a doctor who ran a bunch of tests on me and decided I was having acid issues. After the reflux type meds didn't work, I resolved myself to have strangly gone from a strong stomach that could handle anything to a stomach that many mornings left me vomiting or nauseous.
Then a couple weeks ago I read some of the reviews from this product and realized it might have caused my issues. I stopped taking it that day and haven't had any issues since.
The container only says "Take with food." I always took it with my breakfast and still ended up sick from it. No where is it mentioned that nausea can be a side effect of it.
So, be cautious if you decide to take this supplement. It gave me some major issues.
Customer Review: Made me think I had the flu Summary: 1 Stars
I started taking this vitamin because my Dr. recommended that I pick up a daily supplement. This one had all the things I was looking for. I've never been a very healthy person so the size of the pill didn't phase me at all. The first day I took it after breakfast then proceeded to have flu like symptoms for the rest of the day. The second day (thinking it was an anti-inflammatory I had just been placed on, I didn't take that) but I took the pill after lunch. It was awful, I was up well into the night, the symptoms were delayed a bit because I had eaten a larger meal but in the end I was still in a ball on the couch sweating with stomach pains. You couldn't pay me to take these again. I also don't have a sensitive stomach, my husband calls me the human chemistry set, I have a VERY high tolerance for side effects, but this is ridiculous! ALSO the take with food warning is ONLY on the box...so if you are like me and think you don't have to read directions to take a multivitamin, you're in trouble. Please be careful with these...
