Customer Review: Caution - fake sugar

This review is for Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Natural Whey, Chocolate, 5.13-Pound Tub. Once I received the product, I was very disappointed to find Stevia in the ingredients listed on the label. Stevia is an artificial sweetener (extracted from a plant). Given the description of the product, "All Natural: No artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners.", this surprised me, especially since it is not listed in the ingredients list on the product page.
Stevia gives me a stomach ache.
Otherwise the taste is so-so, and I find that it must be mixed with a sweetened beverage to be palatable (e.g. vanilla soy milk or a frappuccino). Once mixed with a sweetened beverage the stomach-ache-iness effect is also reduced.

I bought this Protein a little nervous because I am used to drinking the Gold Standard Reg. Vanilla Ice Cream so I wasn't too sure on this one. But being cheaper I Decided to give it a shot and I am Glad I Did.

I have tried several natural whey powdered proteins.
This is by far the best tasting, mixing, and has the most % of protein.
I don't know how you could complain about the taste. Mixed with skim milk this tastes better than pretty much any other whey. So if your not looking for results and are too concerned about taste, then maybe you should not even be taking whey.
Mixes well in a shaker cup (which cannot be said for all wheys)
It also has a high percentage of protein per gram and gives results. It is also very cheap for natural whey.
Until they say that their cows are not given hormones (which isnt going to happen), this whey cannot get any better.

I have never taken a protein supplement before and the first time I had some, was with this. I have to tell you, beinga vegetarian most of the time, I never really had taken enough protein during my workouts. This explains how I managed to become very lean and lost a lot of weight instead of packing on the pounds.
The first day I took this in the evening (no workout), I woke up the next day feeling energized and refreshed (I suppose this is an indication this was missing from my diet). The following days, I started working out and taking this , and am already seeing a difference just after 1 week and no, it isn't water retention that I am seeing. Really good protein shake which tastes amazing!

I am a petite woman in her 20s. I am NOT a body builder. Yet, I enthusiastically recommend this product. If you have not been updated on recent health news, there have been several studies that have revealed that whey protein greatly assists in weight loss. (Just Google this.) While I am unable to give you a scientific analysis on why whey is good, this particular brand is whey is great. I used it everyday last summer and even now before meals. I do feel fuller and more energetic after workouts. As for the taste, even adding water to the mix tastes good! It has a slightly sweet taste, but isn't particularly too sweet. If you are seeking to bulk up or if you are just seeking to lose weight -- get this.
