Customer Review: Effective, but bulky and impossible to clean

After a lot of great use, I'm ready to replace my Oral B power toothbrush with a new one -- and I'm not going to purchase this one again.
Although it does a great job of cleaning teeth, the cap protecting the replacement heads broke off after just a few months of use.
Plus, it takes up a lot of room and tips over quite easily, which is annoying in a busy bathroom.
It's also impossible to clean. This is what's really making me choose a different type of power toothbrush. It's just so unhygenic when toothpaste, moisture and who knows what builds up in a portion of the device that is underneath where the additional toothbrush heads rest. You have to take the device apart to try to reach it, but it takes far too much time--and sponges, Q-tips and whatever else I can squeeze in there--to try to scoop it all out and make it clean. There's got to be a better alternative.

Great product. I have only used the precision brush, but have already started to see my teeth are getting whiter. As for the modes that this toothbrush only has, well its simple, there is only 1 mode, and its called "On". Simple. The only feature that I can see is that there is a built in timer to let you know how long you have been brushing (so you can target each area with an equal amount of time). The toothbrush will vibrate twice every 30 seconds and when your recommended brushing time is up (2 minutes), it will vibrate a very distinct 3-4 times to let you know you are done. Overall, I am very satisfied with the product.
One thing to mention - I purchased the product during a 50% off rebate period. It's been about a month and the rebate has not come yet. For the price after rebate, outstanding product. If the rebate never comes, its still good I suppose..

After years of nagging by my dentist, I finally caved in and bought this toothbrush. It's great!My dentist told me that if you're good about brushing your teeth with a regular brush, you can prevent plaque build-up from occurring -- but if you're not careful for a few days then you'll have plaque build-up which you won't be able to remove. You're stuck having to go to the dentist.
Not so if you've got this toothbrush! I actually got this toothbrush after having been a little careless for a few days and being unable to get my teeth to feel clean no matter how thoroughly I brushed them. With this brush everything was squeaky clean in minutes!
I've found it to be reliable, effective, and simple. It's a noisier and messier than an old fashioned toothbrush, but there's not much to be done about that. The battery holds its charge long enough to leave the charger home on trips.

When my previous Oral B power brush finally stopped working (after 7+ years), I definitely was going to buy another one. The old one was great but this newer model is so much better. The speed is much faster, it's quieter, cleans more thoroughly and doesn't irritate your gums, even if you put pressure. The noise changes if you press too hard and also at 30 second intervals to let you know how long to spend in each quadrant of your mouth. My teeth are cleaner and whiter than with the previous model I had, I almost wish it had died sooner so I could buy this one. The battery life is decent, ours get used 4 times a day for about 5 days on one charge. It really provides a dentist like clean if you use it properly and though the replacement brushes can be pricey, I'd consider it worth having a healthy mouth and avoiding expensive and painful dental procedures.Customer Review: Great Brush - except eventually wear out

I have been using Braun electric brushes for over 10 years even though they are quite expensive. They work great, very comfortable to hold and the small head fits easily in one's mouth. (as compared to the inexpensive colgate electric brushes).
Most IMPORTANT - I've never had a cavity while using one of these brushes. When an old one broke several years ago, I went back to a manual brush and promptly got a cavity.
BUT -- after a few years they all stop holding the charge and finally quit. When I open up the brush (which they aren't made for) much of the internals have corroded. Apparently a small amount of water (and toothpaste) can seep into the brush. I'm not sure if this is what ruins the brush, or if the battery just finally gives out. Unfortuately, the brush isn't servicable so I have to buy another one. That's why I didn't give it 5 stars.
