Customer Review: Great basic & inexpensive HRM

First thing to know about this heart rate monitor (HRM) is that it has very basic features. It gives you your heartrate, alerts you (with an alarm) when you're below or above your target areas. It also functions as a basic digital watch and has an alarm feature. That's about it.
If that's all you're looking for, then this is a real value. Some of the features that make it a good buy are:
1) It's accurate (I tested against a few other high end HRMs--no issues)
2) Unlike POLAR HRMs, this one has batteries you can replace yourself
3) Interacts with gym cardio equipment that accepts POLAR telemetry--this means you don't have to wear the watch or hold the contacts to see your HR while working out
4) Inexpensive, but not "cheap"
5) Comes with decent accessories (handlebar mount for bike/travel bag)
If this is your first HRM or you just want one with basic features, the Oregon Scientific HR102 is a great choice.
Description of Oregon Scientific HR102 Wireless Heart Rate Monitor Watch
This monitor is both lightweight and comfortable, and includes a chest strap to continuously transmit your heart rate to the accompanying wristwatch. You can view your heart rate on the LCD screen allowing you to maximize your workout and stay within your personal zone limit.A handy little digital trainer, this heart-rate monitor from Oregon Scientific helps pace, optimize, and tailor a workout. Used with a wireless, 2-ounce chest-band transmitter, the monitor delivers quick and accurate heart-rate readings in a continuous display. You can also establish upper and lower heart-rate bounds and set an alarm to go off if you end up outside the range. The monitor's sporty band is comfortable, and the large LCD screen features a scroll-through menu for the clock, stopwatch, and alarm modes. The unit weighs just over an ounce and features a five-second blue backlight and a power-saving sleep mode. It's even water-resistant up to 30 meters.
