I bought this item a month ago when I started hitting the gym in pursuit of putting on muscle mass, and tons of it. I changed my diet a lot to accommodate the increased energy I need and my main fear was putting on more fat than muscle, so I got this to monitor my body fat on a regular basis. I set it up with ease (instructions are highly understandable) and I also started using it right away! I also let some people I know that are always at the gym test out the BF% feature on this thing and they all said this surprisingly accurate (they expected it to be of low quality because of the size and the price, but they were shocked)! And now I use this every morning before I eat anything and log my process. As I increase my weight I'm assured by this tool that I'm actually gaining muscle mass and not putting on any extra fat. Great buy overall, and I would recommend it to anyone else who is doing something like I am, or just generally monitoring their health.

For athletes, dieters, or others who need to monitor their body fat on a regular basis, this handheld, compact, pocket fat analyzer works from any location. Other methods of calculating body fat can be more expensive or require special equipment, but the pocket fat analyzer measures both body fat ratio and Body Mass Index (BMI) from your fingertips. To begin, users must first enter personal data?-weight, height, age, and, gender?-into the device. Then, from a standing position, users must hold the fat analyzer at a 90-degree angle and place their thumbs and index fingers on the electrodes. Using the bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), the device passes an undetectable 50 kHz current through the fingertips into the body. The current distinguishes what portion of the body does not contain water and, therefore, has the properties of fat. The bioelectrical impedance reading is then calculated with the personal data to produce the body fat ratio. The pocket fat analyzer remembers personal data and the last measured body fat level for up to nine different people and can be set to store multiple body fat ratios for each person. When not evaluating fat, the device doubles as a 24-hour alarm clock with five different alarms and also works as a 60-minute or 60-second timer.
