Previous reviewer hit the nail on the head - this is indeed the weightiest, most substantial, best made, buckwheat hull pillow I have ever used. I usually get a new one once a year or so, but this one looks as though it will last forever. Words fail me.
You won't regret spending the $ on this pillow if you're a buckwheat hull fan.
It has now been FOUR YEARS since I first commented on this super-spectacular pillow. For some reason, I am being tirelessly ridiculed by an old friend who found the original review on google. He evidently believes me to be a total jackass for boldly and publicly addressing the critical topic of pillows using my true identity. Naturally, this makes me want to review it again and again, only in greater detail.
I still have the same one. It has been fluffed in the dryer, left outside to get some UV, and used as a weapon of choice by my charming offspring. I still love it to death. Whether you live in Arizona or Massachusetts, have a huge, oddly-shaped, unwieldy head, or a small, delicate attractive one, your needs will be met by this pillow. I cannot imagine why everyone doesn't have one of these. See you in 2014!

My wife complained of neck pain every morning when she got out of bed for over a year. We've tried all sorts of pillows (e.g., memory foam, feather, down, concave, etc.) from all sorts of places (Land's End, COSTCO, Dillards, etc.), but to no avail. Then a little over a month ago she mentioned something about a buckwheat pillow and so I came here to Amazon to research them. I found several, and nearly all the reviews were either good or very good. Of course, I know every person is different and the beds upon which everyone sleeps upon are different, but I thought this might be a good last effort before she had to resign herself to morning neck pain for ever.
These pillows are not cheap, nor are they zero-maintenance, nor will they last 30 years. But the pillow we ordered (the Organic Buckwheat Queen Size (20" X 30") Pillow) came promptly after I ordered it, and after a month or so sleeping on it, my wife swears by it. Most mornings she has very little if any neck pain when she wakes up. She sleeps cooler and much more comfortably.
It's wonderful when a product's advertising is factual rather than hype. This pillow is wonderful.
Customer Review: Truly a Good Night's Sleep

Make no mistake, these are totally different from the "seen on TV" or "drugstore-type" buckwheat pillows which I had been sleeping on. It may take awhile to get accustomed to these pillows if you are switching from foam or feathers...don't give up the first night. I was accustomed to this type of pillow, so there was no "learning curve".
I am a bit overweight and therefore sleep primarily on my sides rather than stomach. These pillows are perfect for side or back sleepers. Unlike the smaller buckwheat hull pillows, these totally fill a standard pillow case. Although the 11+ lb. weight may make it difficult to turn, why would you want to when the hulls mold to your head and the pillow stays cool?
The shipping cost seemed high (the pillows ARE heavy), but they arrived very quickly. I have not seen any pillows of this quality in the department stores or linen superstores. The seller seems motivated to produce a great product and has succeeded in doing so.
Like the credit card commercial...the value of a good night's sleep; priceless!

This is my second buckwheat pillow. My first one was from a different manufacturer; was o.k. and I used it for several years, then one day decided I wanted to go back to traditional pillows. Threw my buckwheat away,bought a very expensive down pillow, and suffered trying to "get used to it" so as not to have totally wasted my money. Several regular pillows and a stiff neck/sore shoulders later, I admitted to myself that I needed to get another buckwheat pillow. And so began the search. After much online comparison shopping, I chose this pillow (in spite of the-what I thought- high shipping chg). When it arrived, I couldn't believe how large, weighty and well made it is. No wonder the shipping was more! It is heavy! And I love it!!! I can scrunch my head, neck, shoulders, in any position that feels good and REMAIN that way. After spending a lifetime looking for the "perfect pillow" I finally arrived at these. They are a joy to sleep upon. As stated in other reviews, they are very well packed and no voids are left in the pillow casing. At night, my head just made it's own little perfect spot effortlessly as the buckwheat husks shifted just enough to support my head and neck. And the support the pillow offers is beyond belief. Odd combination of solid and soft, but there you have it. I doubt I'd ever be able to go back to normal pillows again, and I have spent a fortune over many years on every type of pillow and filling you can imagine. And the good folks at Beans72 were beyond excellent in their customer service and shipping. The communication was terrific. I love that it's 100% organic and made in the USA. This is an absolutely perfect gift for somebody you know who might be, as I was, searching for the perfect pillow and a good night's sleep. Thank you Beans72!!!
