I've been looking for the right type of pillow for a while. I'm glad I decided to try this buckwheat pillow. Yes, the queen size is a heavy pillow, and you have to put effort into forming the shape you want, but once arranged I find it so comfortable, firm, but with just the right amount of give. Yes it does fit into a queen size pillow case, albeit snugly. I did remove some of the buckwheat (I saved it in a gallon ziplock bag), which allowed me to get just the right hollow for my head. After a month I can tell the buckwheat already moves with more ease, part of the natural polishing that occurs with use, so now it it take less effort to arrange the shape of my pillow. I'm a back and side sleeper, and wasn't bothered by the sound of the buckwheat, a mild crinkle that I only noticed when I first lay down, it never woke me up. The only thing I'd do differently would be to go for a smaller pillow.Customer Review: That is some serious Buckwheat!

We've used buckwheat pillows for years and love them. They conform to your head and neck like a an ergonomic foam pillow, but still "breath". This means that your head will stay cool all night long. Until we purchased this one, we never found one at a reasonable price that was actually a full size pillow. They tend to run very small and relatively flat (I guess buckwheat must be kind of expensive to use as a filler). Well, not only is this pillow is truely Queen sized, but it is TOTALLY filled. It weighs nearly eleven pounds! This pillow is going to last us a long time, which makes it a great value for the price. I've seen comperable pillows listed at nearly twice the cost.
So, if you buy this pillow, not only should you get a decent nights sleep, but you also win any pillow fight you ever get in. Just don't drop it on the cat!

We sleep on a king size bed, but I bought the queen size pillow because I feared that any larger would be too heavy. This size has worked out fine and I still put it in my king size pillow cases.
I have been sleeping well on this pillow and have no complaints. I "mound" the pillow and lay my neck over the highest point. This keeps my head back a bit and allows my airway to stay open. I think it cuts down on my snoring, but my husband would say it is NOT a cure. During the night the "mound" gets worn down and I have to reshape it. It took some getting used to the sound of the pellets rubbing against each other when I'm on my side, but it is not a problem.
Previously, I was always buying new pillows, but they quickly lost their shape and got flat. My buckwheat pillow will probably be with me for years to come!

I have herniated discs in my neck. I was instructed to get a down pillow in order to get good support for my neck. That would have worked, but my wife is allergic to the feathers.
I had used a Buckwheat pillow a long time ago, and I asked my physical therapist about using one instead of feather. She said it would work just as well.
Since getting this pillow, I have been resting much better, and my neck, although it still hurts, is doing better. I think this pillow played a part in that.
On an unrelated note, if anyone wants an _ultimate_ pillow for winning a pillow fight, this might be for you! This thing weighs a ton! You wouldn't be fast with the swing, but if you land a blow, your opponents will be screaming "Uncle" in no time! ;-)

I got to try one of these buckwheat hull pillows on a recent trip to Japan and promised to get one for myself when I returned to the States. I've been using this pillow for almost a month now and so far it's been great. I chose the basic shipping option and the pillow arrived very quickly. My first impressions of the pillow were that it was constructed very well and very heavy(as other reviewers noted). The queen size pillow was larger than I expected, but it does fit in a regular queen sized pillow case as described. The pillow does a good job of conforming to your neck and does keep cool. Before using this pillow I'd find myself going through several different sleeping positions throughout the night. Now, with this pillow, I tend to wake up in the same position as when I went to sleep.
