Customer Reviews of PHion Balance Diagnostic Ph Test Strips, 4.5 - 9.0 ph Range, 90-CountCustomer Review: A little unsure now... Summary: 4 Stars
I recently purchased the Phion test strips, tested myself, and to no surprise found I was highly acidic. Morning urine was 5.75 and morning saliva 6.0. As I have had kidney stones, gout and ongoing psoriasis for many years, which are all indicators of an unhealthy pH level, I was not too surprised. However, I was a little concerned when I went over to my parents house to test their Kangen water alkalizer system. The water was supposed to be 9.0(very alkaline). The pHion strip showed 7.0. Their test, which involved the chemical phenolphthalein, the normal indicator for acidity/alkalinity in the lab(my mom is in medical research, she is very familiar with it) showed 9.0... I then tested my saliva to see if it was a bogus reading, but my saliva tested at around 6, which matched what I tested with the strip. Just a little confused as to why the strip would show a reading of 7.0 while the indicating solution showed the correct pH...both on my saliva and the alkaline water
Customer Review: ph Balance Strips Summary: 5 Stars
This year is a life changing event for me. I read Dr. Young's ph Miracle and followed the directions which is basically to keep your body in an alkaline state. The ph strips allow me to monitor what ph level my body is maintaining very easily through either a urine or saliva test. Eliminating acid is critical to a healthy body.
I'm 53 and was not in the best of health in December 2010. I was 5'8", weighed 167 lbs, have diverticulitis, osteoporosis and bone spurs in my heels and a smoker and drinker. After following Dr. Young's instructions for one month, my chlosterol went from 267 to 185 and all blood readings fell within the mid range and were normal. I was a Atkins dieter which really messed up my system. I'm on week eight of his plan now and have lost 18 pounds. Pretty cool.
His plan boasts that NO disease can live within a body in an alkaline state and can HEAL existing problems. I'm giving it a year and we'll see.
Customer Review: Horrible unhelpful and uneducated customer service, inaccurate product Summary: 1 Stars
This product ACTUALLY has two Ph sensitive boxes on the strip, not one as shown. There seems to be no way to have both boxes match to the same reading on the chart and the people at PhIon have NO explanation as to how to read the strips when one box matches one place on the chart and the other box matches another place on the chart.
Which box do I read then? (my question) "Well, you would read the box with the lower Ph reading, I guess." (their answer).
Do you have someone there who actually understands this product and how it works? (my question) "I can take down your name and phone number and have a product specialist call you back." (their answer)
My advice: Get a Ph strip that actually works and save yourself all this hassle.
Poor product, poor customer support!
Customer Review: Very good for people with Interstitial Cystitis Summary: 4 Stars
I am a sufferer of Interstitial Cystitis and upon recommendation from a naturalistic doctor of medicine I bought these test strips to keep track of my urine's acidity. These test strips are fairly easy to use but I find reading them can be a little confusing at first because so many of the colors on the color chart are similar. After practicing a bit this became easier and now I feel I can confidently read and keep my acid levels in check.
Although it says in the booklet that comes with them that the acid levels should be around 6.5 for urine, I find that with my IC a level closer to 7 or just slightly above keeps my flares at bay.
I find that the price here on Amazon is at least 5 dollars cheaper than on pHion's own website. A very good product for a decent price.

Customer Review: These work great! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these to test my saliva, since my teeth have been getting very sensitive.
I found my saliva is very acidic -- as low as 4.5 to 5.75, most likely due to GERD. (My urine, by contrast, is alkaline.)
I take prescription medication for reflux and don't have much heartburn, but I have a chronic cough and wheezing. The acid seems to be migrating to my throat and mouth. It was a wake-up call. Now I need to do something before I lose my teeth/voice. When I chew gum, my saliva becomes alkaline. The test strips have been very helpful in showing me this.
My doctor had suggested fundoplication surgery for the reflux, and I thought that was a bit drastic. I thought my symptoms were allergies. But seems they're caused by acid, not allergies.
