Customer Review: new strips indicate too low

I have purchased their previous product, the two-colour pHion strips, for years and have sent many people to their website to purchase them, even if one of the colors had to be ignored to get the proper reading. (This may be why they changed to this single-color version.) However, I still have some of the two-color strips and test strips from another manufacturer that are consistent between their readings. These "NEW pHion Test Stix" have proved to be useless. They consistently indicate a very low pH, at least 2 points lower than both of the other strips, and their sensitivity is extremely poor. (I had purchased 10 bottles through their website and will be sending 9 back.) A low reading serves to promote their other products; this is unethical if it produces erroneously low results.Customer Review: These PH test strips just work

These strips have two color bars that make it easy to get a match so the accuracy seems to be better than normal litmus paper. In either case, be careful of the compact florescent bulbs. They do not emit all the colors of light so they will throw your reading off. Read the strips under a standard incandescent bulb or in the daylight for the most accurate results.
The only problem I have with these sticks is the container. It is a thin flat hard plastic. The lid comes off to expose the sticks, but the sticks are a little flimsy so they spread slightly. This makes it difficult to get the cover back on without touching the sticks. A round box that you shook the sicks out of would be better.
I will definitely purchase more when my supply runs out.

These strips do not work with water or any other non-ionized solution. See the PhIon FAQ on their site which says, "These strips do NOT test against water or chemicals. They need to be tested against high ionized solutions. Water is not a high ionized solution and other chemicals may dilute the strip to be unreadable."
They do work with urine or saliva, but you cannot test them using water or other solutions.
The product information on this should be updated to clarify this issue. There are several negative reviews where people think the strips do not work because there is no warning in the product information that the strips cannot be tested with water or similar solutions.

I received the "dual strips," but was under the impression that the newer strips were now the single color strips. I contacted the company twice--the reps were not informed about this product. One rep told me she didn't know why there were two colors on the strip, but to just ignore the bottom color-- (so why have two colors??). I told the rep that the colors never change, no matter the various urine, pool, fish tank, drinking water, I tested them on. I was assured I would get an e-mail response with my questions--never did. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT AND THIS COMPANY!!! (I am familiar with testing water PH in my pool and fish tank--the strips I buy for testing the tank and pool all work great!Customer Review: "NO expiration date...Ever" & Made in China

No idea yet if these strips even work. One star as I would not have purchased it had I known [per the manufacturer] that there is absolutely no expiration date on this product [I called as I could find nothing on the box]. That just disturbs me. How can there be no expiration date? Ever? Makes no sense other than no expiration date is good for inventory. You don't get rid of the out-dated ones, just continue to sell them. And, actually, it was not the manufacturer who told me that as these strips are made in China. It was the distributor. This is a quasi-health related product made in China [yes, I know lots are, but when I can avoid such, I will]. Won't reorder.
