I really like this pocket otosocpe. One of the fellow paramedics I work with had purchased one and was showing the rest of us how bright the light was. The light was unbelievably bright and when he said that the bulb is guaranteed for life I could not hardly believe it until I read about it myself on Amazon. The otoscocpe is really well built and solid and I can see inside the ear clearer than I can with my Welch Allen. It also comes with a pocket clip and 10 disposable specula along with a really nice solid case. The picture of the case on the website shows a zippered case but they actually send it to you on a hinged hard plastic case with a foam lining that appears very durable and protective. More so than a soft pouch would be.
I know the last bulb I purchased for my Welch Allen otoscope was almost $40 with tax and shipping added in. I also had to replace the bulbs sometimes every 6 months. This is probably more due to the fact I am pretty rough with the otosocpe since I often carry it on person into the field. I am sure they would not go out this often if I was using it in a more controlled setting.
I have not had the otoscope long enough to test for battery life but my partner has been using the same batteries for the past 6 months in his. I guess that is one of the big advantages of LED over halogen since I know my Welch Allyn needed new batteries every few weeks if I had been using it allot.
IMHO you will not go wrong with this otoscope, not at this price and not with all the advantages that are offered with the LED light source.
