Customer Reviews of Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers, Size 2, 152 CountCustomer Review: I didn't think it would happen to me -- until it did Summary: 1 Stars
We've been using Pampers diapers almost exclusively since our son was born 5 months ago. We started with the New Baby diapers in the hospital and liked the softness and fit so we continued to use them until our son needed a size 3 (size 2-3 seems to be the largest they come in). At that point we tried some other brands, but nothing was as soft or seemed as comfortable and well fitting as the Pampers, so we tried Swaddlers Sensitive diapers. We went through two small bags, purchased at the drug store, without event. Then yesterday we opened up the large box we ordered from Amazon. It was the afternoon, and my son had no diaper rash at that point. Less than one hour after putting on the first Swaddlers Sensitive diaper from the box, I changed him immediately after he urinated -- this is obvious the moment it happens, as these diapers have a very strong smell when wet. Already his groin, scrotum, and little buttocks were red, inflamed, and angry looking. I thought that perhaps I just didn't use enough diaper cream and hoped it would get better, and put on the second diaper from the box, as my poor child screamed. I'd read warnings from other parents, but since we'd had such good luck with the first two small bags, I didn't believe these nice soft diapers could be the culprit. A short while later, his poor diaper area was even worse, and he was clearly miserable. We switched to another type of diaper and by this morning his groin looked much better. While I'm a big fan of controlled experiments, I can't bear the thought of my child being in so much pain again, so I won't risk putting him back in these diapers. I'm contemplating wetting one and strapping it to my inner arm, however, to see if I get a reaction myself. Do I know for certain these diapers caused the reaction? No, but logic points suggests it's quite likely -- he had no rash before these diapers; I changed him immediately after he urinated (i.e. he wasn't sitting in a soiled diaper long); and the rash resolved when the diapers were discontinuted. My husband was furious, and doesn't want Pampers to get another cent from us. I may have to go back to Huggies Naturals, and deal with the annoying gel granules. We tried Luvs, but they were poor performers for us. Rest assured I'll be writing a calm and detailed letter to Pampers. I'm a physician, and hope they'll take this seriously, as I certainly do.
Customer Review: I tested two brands, and this is the clear winner for us. Summary: 5 Stars
I tried two types of diapers in succession: Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive and Huggies Lil' Snugglers. The Pampers were clearly the best for my baby for two reasons. First, this was the only brand that resulted in no diaper rash. My son had surgery that caused him to temporarily have bowel movements with a newborn-like frequency, so we were changing diapers FREQUENTLY. Even with frequent changes, the Huggies left him with bad diaper rash (by bad I mean there were many sore bumps and even some that bled). With the Pampers he had no diaper rash at all. The second reason I rank Pampers as best is that they can hold a lot of liquid for overnight. During the day this doesn't matter to me since we change so frequently, but at night it is great that his skin is not sitting there all wet and yucky. I decided to try the Huggies after reading the review on here that pointed out that Huggies' absorbency is more due to the use of cellulose and "paper" type absorbents, while Pampers is "super absorbent polymers". That got me to thinking about the whole natural vs. chemical type of thing and - while I realize that maybe the paper is more chemical-y than the polymers, who knows - I thought I'd try the paper-based brand (Huggies). I also do like the shape of Huggies better, but it was blown out of the water by the better result for my baby's bottom that I got with the Pampers.
OH, one last thing: you know the little balls of gel that some parents mention with Pampers? Well, I have gotten those on occasion with every brand I've ever used, from Pampers to Huggies to store brands.
Customer Review: Loyalist, telling it like it is. Summary: 5 Stars
Things I love.
Amazon mom + Subscribe and save. Even better than that? Getting a coupon from parents magazine to add to the savings.
My Baby has never had a diaper rash and we are on size two.
Up to size 2, there is a wetness indicator. When you have a newborn this is a wonderful time saver and frustration decreaser. I can't imagine a newborn without this.
Pampers decreased it environmental impact and now makes less of an eco footprint.
Pampers diapers are chlorine free. Infact, it's the industry standard now for years, but a bunch of marketing dudes are making hippie moms pay more for off white diapers and labeling them chlorine free because they think it's what we want to hear. ( and pay extra for)
Pampers Gift to Grow points. I've actually already gotten a free shutterfly custom cover hard book by cashing in 1000 points. ( not hard to do, almost on my 2nd book )
No leaks. Ever.
He can wear one diaper from the time I put him to bed till the morning. They keep him dry and the mesh liner keeps the stuff in there ( don't know how to explain that)
When I am not using cloth diapers, I will only use these I am a pampers mom, my son is a pampers baby, and the sensitive brand keeps us free from unnecessary dyes, scents and irritation. Thanks to amazon, they keep the price affordable so I can keep my babies bum covered in bliss.
Customer Review: LOVE these diapers Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I love these Pampers Sensitive Swaddlers. They gave them to us at the hospital and they totally spoiled us on other diapers. I like their thin design, I like the way they fit - there's lots of crotch room, so they can ride kind of high (which I like - no leaks out the top), they're soft on the inside and outside, and they've NEVER leaked. But most of all, we LOVE the stripe that tells you when the diaper is wet. It's brilliant. When you're a first time parent and you don't have a hang of when the diaper is wet (especially with diapers these days - it's almost impossible to tell when a lot of them are wet because they're so good at wicking away moisture - but boy oh boy can your baby tell!), and you've had little sleep, and you are exhausted and feel like you are losing your mind, it is SO NICE to be able to just look and, "Oh, the stripe is green. I guess he's fussy because he needs a dry diaper." Just makes these first few months just a little easier. And you know, even a little easier makes a big difference with a newborn. Seriously. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. We asked for a case of them for Christmas. The only thing I don't like about them is that they have a slightly weird smell, but I've got a freakishly sensitive sense of smell, and it's not really bad, just kind of weird. And I'm bummed out that I guess the moisture stripe is only sizes 1 and 2. I will be sad to see that stripe go. It's the main reason we buy these.
Customer Review: Really, really disappointed! Summary: 1 Stars
I loved these diapers in size 1 and 2 but the DryMax is TERRIBLE! I can't believe they can get away with putting that awful stuff into a sensitive diaper!!! First, when you open the package you are instantly battered by this insanely strong chemical smell- something that almost made me send them back to Amazon, but I decided to give them a try. We used them just during the day at first and used the Huggies Pure & Natural at night and we didn't have any problems. So after a few weeks, I decided to try them at night, too...BIG MISTAKE! After a couple of days, my baby started screaming when I changed her diaper; and then I noticed the skin was red and peeling around her rectum! I am religious about putting diaper cream on when I change her but I guess it wears off some over night. I AM FURIOUS! I will never, NEVER, buy Pampers again! I can't believe I ignored my instincts and all of the other mothers who had this problem! Pampers should stop using this chemical immediately! Especially in their sensitive diapers!!!
Honestly, I was skeptical about the other reviews stating their babies were literally burned by the diapers, but that's exactly what it looks like! I would post pictures if I wasn't worried about getting in trouble...I hope this review will deter another mother from subjecting their baby to this.
