Customer Reviews of Pampers Swaddlers

Customer Review: These are the best diapers. I've tried them all.
Summary: 5 Stars

These diapers are the best. Since this is my first child, I can't speak for the later stages of this particular diaper. But I can say, after receiving numerous different types of diapers as gifts at my baby shower, that these are, hands-down, the best. My husband picked these ones up at the store because they are "blankie soft" (as noted on the package) and because of the value. They also have a notch for the umbilical cord, which was a necessity to me.

After I used these, I packed up all of the other diapers because they didn't give me the same confidence that these ones do. Strangely, I feel that my daughter likes them better than the other ones too. She seems less fussy in them. Tonight, I changed her out of one of the other diapers my husband put on her in a rush, and put her in one of these. She hadn't had the other diaper on very long, and it wasn't soiled yet. But I could tell that she was uncomfortable. It was so remarkable how much less fussy she was after I put this diaper on that it inspired me to review this diaper.

In my limited experience, all diapers will "leak" if left on too long, or, if the baby has a "blow-out." These, I've noticed, leak only when left on too long, like after a long shopping trip. A newborn, after all, needs to be changed at least as often as she feeds. These contain her blow-outs like no other, with very, very minimal leaking, especially in comparison with the others we've tried.

These diapers also make it easy to see if baby is soiled or not. There is a long yellow indicator strip on the outside of the diaper that turns green when baby "goes to the bathroom." So, if you're out and about and don't want to take baby's diaper off unnecessarily, you can peek through her clothes to make sure she's dry.

There are some cosmetic bonuses as well. They're very thin, so they don't take up a lot of room in the diaper bag or on the changing table. Also, they make her appearance a little neater. In other words, when she has a onesie on, she doesn't have her diaper frills hanging out all over the place, and in general, she just seems more contained. These fit her very well.

In short, these diapers make us both happy. A+!

Customer Review: Tried the rest, these are the best
Summary: 5 Stars

Like most new parents, my wife and I had little knowledge of diapers when our daughter was born. We had, of course, received suggestions from just about everyone we knew, including people without any children!

Sooooo, like any good consumer, we decided to try every brand on the market. Anything we could get our anxious new-parent little hands on!

We tried Luvs, Huggies, Wal-Mart brand, Target brand, H.E.B. brand, and every other brand that is out there on the market. Some leaked, some had difficult tabs to open that would rip the diaper, some didn't fit right, some were too bulky, some too thin, and some were a combination of all of the above.

While some were awful, and some were decent, only one was perfect, and that was the Pampers brand Swaddlers.

The contoured shape fits perfectly around your child's legs, back and tummy, the tabs are easy to open and close, they're just the right size, and they don't leak.

During the early months, our daughter would often go potty so frequently at night that we would find her --and her blanket, and her crib sheets-- wet in the morning, but with Pampers Swaddlers, we never had this problem.

She is now over 10 months old, and I am happy to report that we have yet to be unsatisfied with the product. I have recommended these to all of our friends with new babies, and I am doing the same here to you.

Don't shop around and waste money on inferior diapers for your baby, start --and finish-- with Pampers Swaddlers.

Oh, one caveat that I should mention. I have a little girl, and knowing that boys and girls are built VERY differently, I can not vouch for this product concerning little boys.

Customer Review: Buyer Beware - Pampers has cheapened this diaper!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I just purchased a box of size 2 Swaddlers (a diaper I've used off and on for years now and has always been awesome), and this whole box has no absorbent liner on the back 2/3 of the diaper! I spoke with P&G and they assured me they have made no changes, but when I hold it up to the light there is clearly nothing there - mesh liner, outer liner, but no absorbent gel beads at all. The package before that one was fine - I had some left to compare, and there is clearly a difference. The diaper is also stiffer. This change is similar to the change made to the Pampers Cruisers, only they kept the mesh liner. Cruisers are also now stiff and lack absorbent beads on the backside. WTH?

UPDATE: I just returned this bad box of Swaddlers to Target where they were purchased, and I bought a package of Swaddlers Sensitive to see what they were like. P&G has pulled a fast one on us. They have downgraded the Swaddlers, and repackaged the old version under the Sensitive label. I just pulled a Swaddler from my diaper bag which was bought at Walgreen's 2 weeks ago and compared it to the Swaddler Sensitive I just bought an hour ago at Target, and they are virtually identical except for the wetness indicator on the Sensitive. (Size 2 Swaddlers don't have the stripe, but the Sensitives do.)

Buyer beware!!!

Update 3/3/10:

According to Pampers, (see their facebook page) they will be converting Swaddlers to Dry Max, and at first I was told they would be removing the mesh liner in those too, but now they are telling me they will not be. I'll be glad when my 5 month old is potty trained so I'll never have to worry about diapers ever again - we're done!

Customer Review: Best diaper!
Summary: 5 Stars

Pampers Swaddlers (Newborn and size 1, so far) are the best diaper we've tried. They don't leak, they fit well and they are very absorbent.

Huggies aren't as absorbent as Pampers and they don't fit as well. They run bigger than the Pampers and Luvs. They work well, but not great like the Pampers.

Luvs are ok. Their fit is somewhat less snug than Huggies, but they are at least as absorbent as Huggies. They, like the Huggies, tend to roll up at the waistline on occasion. This is when the diaper is most likely to leak. Still, though, I've been using Luvs as my 2 month old son's overnight diaper without difficulty.

I tried Seventh Generation diapers (size 1) because I got them for free from the Amazon baby registry promotion. They are akin to paper lunch bags with velcro straps and elastic. They are not very absorbent at all, and we can only go a maximum of two-three hours at a time between changes. After that, they just leak everywhere--badly. Also, they run much smaller than the Pampers, Huggies and Luvs. They don't fit well, they roll up at the waistline and the elastic does not expand enough to really make the diaper tight enough to prevent leaks.(This is despite the fact that the package says the elastic is super stretchy!)I only use these diapers during the day when I can change him every couple of hours.

Ranking:
Pampers Swaddlers (Sensitive is even better!)
Huggies
Luvs
Paper towel tied around baby's waist
Seventh Generation

Save yourself the headache and go with the Pampers.

Customer Review: TERRIBLE! NOT THE SAME AS SWADDLERS SIZE 1 YOU GET AT THE HOSPITAL
Summary: 1 Stars

Word of warning: these are NOT the same diapers as the Pampers Swaddlers Size 1 you may have gotten in the hospital. We've been using Swaddlers Newborn (purchased in November 2009) and Swaddlers Size 1 (from the hospital) for our two week old, and have loved them. We thought we were ordering more of the same, but these are a totally different diaper - I'm not sure if the manufacturer has changed the product, or if this is just a case of bait and switch, but either way, we are very disappointed, and will have to get rid of the rest of the value pack after using less than five diapers. First, the diapers have an EXTREMELY strong artifical "baby powder" scent - it gives me a headache, scents the room, and I can only imagine will bother my baby too. (We have not seen a rash yet, but its only been a day, and with perfumes this strong, I'm afraid that is coming.) Second, the diapers are thinner than the ones we got from the hospital, and the absorbent pad only goes halfway up the back of the diaper. We've already had one major poop leak due to this. Third, the handy strip that changed colors when wet is gone ([...] says that Pampers has "temporarily stopped including" this). From some of the other reviews, it sounds like there may have been a recent redesign on the product, and perhaps the original Swaddlers are now sold under the Swaddlers Sensitive label??? Either way, we will not be buying these diapers again, or will at least be testing with smaller packages before buying in bulk.
