Customer Reviews of Panasonic ER421KC Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer, Wet/Dry, LightedCustomer Review: Good for nose. No use for ear @ the cost of many 'Ouch' from you Summary: 2 Stars
This is the only electronic product I have used for hair trimming for nose. Earlier I used to use scissors. As it used to take a lot of time to trim inside nose, I moved on with this product. All you got to do is just swirl around and in matter of seconds you are done.
Since the interface of this device is round, its of good use to swirl around inside nose. But i got some hair on ear, where neither I could remove with Razor (got some skin chipped couple of times) nor with this device (doesn't reach the hair on edges). This product cannot help remove hair {on} (edges of) ear, may be it could clear hair {in} the ear. But in contrast to nose, many may have more hair on the ear rather than in the ear.
My usage is limited to once / twice in a month. I felt lot of 'ouch' after 15-20 uses. Having battery fully charged might help to some extent, but seriously you would roll into tears after a while (# of uses).
With this product causing more pain, I am back to scissors (bought about 3 years ago and still works like charm). But the sad thing is Panasonic ER421kc didn't last strong for more than 20 uses.
Customer Review: Really inadequate Summary: 2 Stars
This thing just doesn't do its job . I had an earlier version of the Panasonic trimmer and it cleaned up hairs like a hurricane for years, until it broke. This one requires meticulous attention to every eighth inch of ear, nasal opening and upper lip (mustache), and even then it requires going back over areas you've already done. It reminds me of cutting the lawn with one of those old hand-pushed reel lawnmowers. You'd turn around and discover that you needed to re-do the row you just mowed to get the many blades that resisted it. At least you built up some muscle doing that. I find myself just going for my scissors rather than taking the trouble of using this.
Who knows why they felt obligated to "improve" a product that was working fine.
And the addition of the stupid little headlight only one effect: using up the battery more quickly. It shines on a spot about a quarter inch from where you are trying to cut. Which doesn't matter because it's not bright enough to reveal what the clipper has failed to clip. You have to use your regular bathroom light for that.
Pff.
Customer Review: Think twice about buying this Summary: 1 Stars
Approx. a year ago I replaced an older version of this Panasonic nose hair trimmer with the ER421. What a mistake. The light is a ridiculous gimmick that eats batteries. I finally gave up after the last battery replacement didn't last a month (about 3 uses). In theory the LED light shouldn't draw much power, but....something sure does. I've switched to the manual Groom Mate Platinum XL and it seems to do an acceptable job, although it doesn't trim as closely as the Panasonic. Should you decide to purchase this trimmer I highly recommend that you close the drain on the bathroom sink if you trim above it and rinse the blade to clean it because that's what forced me to replace my older version of the trimmer....I dropped the blade and it went down the drain. There were no replacements available because Panasonic apparently did some sunsetting design changes that were not improvements, but required the purchase of an entirely new trimmer. So....my advice to you is to think twice about purchasing this model. It gave me a year of grief and a bunch of wasted batteries. Happy nose hair trimming to you.
Customer Review: does the job nicely, but the blister pack is dangerous! Summary: 1 Stars
howdy y'all,
the actual item does it's job quite nicely. i would rate it a 4 on it's own. it feels good in the hand, cuts easily and quickly plus the light is actually useful. the nasty stench when one st opens the battery compartment is [i suppose] outgassing from something in the assembly. i went away after i left it open for a few hours. [*grin*]
the reason i rated this item at ONE is cuz the blister pack had NO indication of how to open it. it was sealed TIGHTLY and the plastic was quite brittle. i finally took a knife and the package out in the yard and sliced it open. the plastic shattered when the cut neared one edge and i was struck by many bits of sharp plastic. one bounced off of my glasses. thankfully, i didn't lose my eye cuz the glasses stopped the missile.
i can't recommend anyone buying this item while the blister pack remains so remarkably dangerous to open.
i suppose they wanted to mutilate any shoplifters ... but they forgot to account for actual buyers. [*sigh ...*]
take care,
lee
Customer Review: Broken? This may fix it Summary: 5 Stars
I have an older Panasonic 411 model trimmer (basically very similar, but no light) and have always had problems with the motor speed -- usually it was too slow and weak, and it seemed to vary for no discernible reason. A couple days ago, it quit completely. Well, after fiddling with every part of it I could access (pulling off the on-off switch, trying to pull the inner unit out etc), I discovered that this thing is very sensitive electrically (probably due to the fact that it operates on only 1.5 volts) to the bottom (in the cap) battery center contact. I pulled out the metal contact (it's held in simply by the two "points" pressing against the plastic), scraped and sanded the contact a bit, but more importantly, I pulled the center portion out quite a bit to bend it enough to press pretty firmly against the battery negative end when reassembled. Voila, more RPM than I ever remember getting! I have a feeling this may be the reason many have had their trimmers quit working. Give this fix a try!
