Customer Review: What An Improvement Over The Panasonic ER112BC

I used the Panasonic ER112BC for years, but I always had problems with it. It would pull hairs in my nose that I was trying to cut and would often leave hairs uncut, despite many tries. When I read about this Panasonic product, it seemed that the users felt it was a vast improvement over the ER112BC. I agree completely. Panasonic is to be commended for redesigning this product (and especially the cutting head). It now cuts all nose hair effortlessly and without any irritation or pain. Unlike others who believe the light is useless, I disagree. The light helps guide the user to properly aim the cutting head; it is certainly a benefit for me. The reason that I did not give this product five stars is that it did little for the few ear hairs that I have. Despite numerous attempts, the ER421KC just doesn't work as well in the ear. Tweezers are really the only effective way to remove ear hairs. Nevertheless, this is a great product.Customer Review: So far, so good

So I've heard horror stories of these things having next to no lifespan, so if my goes kaput in the next few months I'll update this review. That said, this thing is working exactly as advertised.
The light is indeed useful, and you can get a good look up your nostril. The actual trimming process feels a bit weird if you've never done it but is light-years ahead of the tweezers - that is, there is no pain to speak of. Note that the trimmer does not cut the hair completely: it just pares it down to the proper length, which is more than sufficient to keep hairs from poking out.
So, as it stands, if you're looking at this product, I know what problem you have - I had it too, and this thing has solved it at a very reasonable price. That's the best compliment there is for a product like this.
Update 1/16/2010: Roughly eight months later, after one or two uses a month, I've noticed no drop-off in performance.

Had unsightly nose hairs. Used this trimmer. No longer have nose hair problem. That's pretty much it! Totally worth $15.
Btw, before I bought this one, I bought a similar trimmer from Walmart (no name brand) for about $5, figuring they're all the same. Not so. The cheaper ones get stuck, lose power, and just generally don't work that well. There's no need to break the bank on a nose hair trimmer, but it's worth a few extra bucks to get a decent one; this trimmer is just about right.
About the light: someone said here they thought the light was useless. Well, it's kinda useless, and certainly is not the "the reason" to buy this trimmer, but it's also sort of handy at moments. That said, the easiest way to use this thing is to just stick it in, wiggle it around randomly, and wait till you don't have nose hairs anymore. If you want to use the light to target something, it's handy. But you really don't need to.

This is the only nose hair trimmer I have ever used or owned. That said, I found that it worked basically exactly as expected: I removed my visible nose hair neatly and 100% painlessly.
Installing a single battery was easy. I've used the trimmer several times over the last month and a half with no noticeable sign of the battery running down.
Two criticisms: first, it takes some persistence to get the last stubborn hairs. However, what the design prevents in speed and pin-point precision it makes up in safety. I have no worries at all about cutting the inside of my nose. (I have only used the trimmer on my ears.) Second, the light is mounted partway back from the tip of the business end. It's not really useful, but it's not really necessary.
Again, I haven't used any other nose hair trimmer, but I can't imagine paying any more than I paid for this one -- it does exactly what I wanted.

I love Amazon. I live in a remote area of Colorado that has very few stores so I use Amazon for hard to find items and my recent purchase was this nose hair trimmer. After much deliberation and doing probably too much research I purchased the Panasonic ER421KC nose and ear hair trimmer.
It is exactly what I was looking for. I really did not want another cheaply made import because I have already thrown a few of those away and I kept on having to go back to my moustache scissors to get the job done, which at my age is a little dangerous.
This trimmer takes a little getting used to but does a great job.
I am always surprised at just how much hair it trims without pulling and the reservoir tip traps all of those small hairs which can then be easily rinsed out under running water. It has a very solid feel and is backed up by warranty. Of course, I recommend this product highly.
